Well, the corner posts are the wider ones from Series 4, but the roof width is actually a little narrower, maybe an incho or so.  But the height is the same as all previous props.  Alot of pics show the roof on other props being short, but it turns out to be lens distortion.  Purple posted a pic on the other board of the first prop from Series 1 and it had the tall pitch to the roof.

You know.... I never actually noticed that the corner posts were wider till you mentioned it bill... then I sat and looked at that photo and though... hmm yeah they are...

Not by too much though is it?
I'm thinking that it's Matt's version I will wind up making, since the old NST lamp is harder to find lately...

I would go back and make a more classic box using my other plans, but I intend on using my TARDIS as a small shed, but still would like as much room in there as possible... so the NST it is lol

It looks to me as if the corner posts and the architrave are chunkier?
Plus some extra detailing at the top of the posts?

Overall a definite improvement.

If only they would have made the panels oblong and not keen on the almost flourescent wood grain from some of the photos!

Here's a photo taken earlier on in the month - if I'm not mistaken the white windows surrounds are gone:

And here's the backdrop for the interior of the prop which shows part of the new console room;

Pretty lurid and cheap looking in my opinion - is there a Hartnell like part of set design I can see though?

Quote from: kiwidoc on Oct 29, 2009, 05:41 amRumour has it there is a story where the 10 TARDIS later changes into the 11 TARDIS so this is probalby the 10 part of that story.

The second picture looks like the NST "Mk1" lamp fitting, whereas the third looks like the lamp from the "Mk2", which would seem to support that rumour.

Can't tell if the night picture has the white window frames, but they are still "NST-thin" if you see what I mean.

Here's a screencap from the first second or two of the 2010 trailer.

Quote from: tristan on Jan 07, 2010, 12:32 pmThat looks pretty cool actually. You get a better idea of the proportions than the publicity shots that appeared in the newspapers at the back end of last year.  Window dividers still aren't thick enough though ;)

I've just noticed something I'd not seen before.  The lamp housing appears to be square, but it also appears to be at an angle, so the 4 struts are actually in line with the face of the box rather than the corners.

EDIT: no, I'm wrong.  It's the pointy bit on the lamp, it looks like a corner.

Quote from: teletran on Jul 23, 2009, 02:09 amreduce it to 3/4 scale and give it a dirt wash and I'd be quite happy with the new build.

Here's a version with just those changes -- 3/4 scale, and a dirt wash.  Helps a lot, actually.

Is it me or is there a door stop now? And the floor looks like the interior floor...

That roof is definitely higher pitched, but I still don't like how new it looks. Certainly Karen makes it better but I like my model best. :-)

Actually, the roof pitch is correct.  What makes it look taller is the fact that the width of the roof is a little narrower.

New pic posted on Gallifrey Base.  You can see a bit more of the console room.  And there is a ladder!  Wonder if that was Purple's doing. ;)

I don't know if this is true or not but someone on Gallifrey Base posted the following.

"A friend of mine runs an auto factors in Pontypridd, not far from the Upper Boat studios. He's just had an order from a member of the production team for paint for use on the TARDIS prop. The colour? Liberty blue - a Subaru colour."

Is anyone able to confirm this story?  I did a check on the paint name and couldn't find it but I was hoping someone else may be able to double check.

Thanks

Jon

I completely missed this till I was looking at the site on my phone because of a power outtage....

Can anyone shed any light on this?
I looked it up and Liberty Blue is actually a Pearlescent metallic paint....

I didn't know whether to ask in this thread, or in the "wood" subsection, but I figure since this has to do with the 2009 upgrade, it was better asked here.  In this pic...

dscf8555.jpg

...what kind of wood would you say this is?  I can't imagine these are plywood, since the routered edges of the door framing couldn't possibly look that neat.  I would think it would be extremely difficult to make them look this clean, with the multiple layers of plywood.  Maybe I'm wrong.

Edit: Well, actually, after looking at the edges a bit closer, they only look cut on an angle and sanded a bit...  That would support the builder's guide I've been reading as well, which (I believe) stats a 22 degree cut.  Confirm/deny?
