Hi Everyone,

So Im teaching myself Blender and what better subject matter to build than Doctor Who :)

So Ive spent 90% of my reseach time on this very website trying to match screenshots with a topdown plan view I have of a tardis console.  Thank you for all the resources.  Going through the reference material it looks like I'm aiming for a season 20 console.

Here are some work in progress shots.  End goal is as great a tardis interior and console as I can make.  Ive only been Blendering for 3 months so im no expert my any means.

Zannyuk, these are the best (quick) images I could locate for the rendition you're working on while using this old laptop. You can find more in this thread (http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=1105.0), and probably more in this one (http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=2513.0). Both threads are slug-speed loading on this computer or I'd have linked directly to them. (Once I get home the normal computer will set that right again.)

and this great one taken of the re-creation of the console at the DWE:

(Most of the above posted in those threads by warmcanofcoke and Dalex. Open these images in a new window to see them full size.)

I hope this helps.

THanks for looking for me :)  I have seen those pictures, as the the brown/yellow part, im assuming its some sort of glass/plastic covering over a dimly lit gap, i'll try and draw it with my bad photoshop skills lol.  Thanks again.

First panel roughed up, onto panel 2 (the TV screen panel)panel 2 buttons.png

2 attempts at getting monitor right, still not there, but not looking to bad.  Once all panels have the basics, i'll go back round again and tweak whats needed.panel2-1.png

Slow going, personal issues and general noobness slowing me down, still 3rd panel only missing a couple of circular screens and a couple more buttons then onto my 4th panel.

Whoa! :o :o :o Is that last image you posted a render? I thought I was looking at a close-up of a real-world build! The detail in that is amazing. Mind-boggling! Whatever you're doing, keep it up. It's fantastic!

Thanks mate, progress is slow going, especially with the last 3 panels, doesn't help the panel im currently working on differs in screencaps depending on episode lol.

Ah, that large meter panel... the one they kept moving around the console with it finally ending up on the far side where we couldn't see it all that much. (I really liked that panel - the way it looked.) I'd say for that one, go for the later stories of its life, right before "The Five Doctors". That's when it had the most controls on it, like that pink-orange dome above the large meter. That was a Davison late addition to that panel.

I think that "ceramic disc" on Panel 6 (with the large red-knob door lever) is actually a quasi-Fresnel lens, either green, or with a green light or filter behind it. There are some great reference images of it in those two links I posted earlier.

Good luck with the great work! Your images are amazing! And I just noticed that image on the computer monitor for the panel you posted above: the Dalek entry from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy... Brilliant!

Working on that Fresnel lens/green display right now, getting it to look and light right may require me to ask around the blender pages to get some help, im still an amateur and the interaction between light and "glass" is complicated.Screenshot from 2016-12-04 11-54-13.png

In the modeling zone today, so this panel is now almost done, just gotta get the small lights and green and yellow glass covered panels to look a bit better.panel 6 wip.png oh and finish modeling a couple more bits.

You might get some help here, too, (can I call you "zanny", or "zan" for short? It's easier for me to type.). We've got some Blender users here, and some of the things they've turned out are astounding. So just ask away and I'm sure one of them will have some advice for you.

And what you've got done so far is still looking great!
