I believe the second is from "Planet of the Giants" (episode 1) - you can tell by the position of the scanner!

Lovely pictures.  I have my doubts about the first one being from Marco Polo though. From memory, the telesnaps indicate a fairly limited set-up for the TARDIS interior scenes; 'console with a single wall behind it' sort of thing, as often happened with episodes that had lots of other sets to accommodate.

That said, I can't prove a thing and am stumped as to which other story it could have come from.

Well, the picture with the canopy can't be after "The Aztecs" because the black and white triangular 'flags' in the central column are both the same way up! (In the Aztecs one of those triangles had fallen off and was subsequently re-fitted the 'wrong way up'. In addition, the little balls on the secondary levers are all still present - by Keys of Marinus some had gone 'walkies'! The control panel on the right in the "Marco" picture is on the left in this one from Marinus - the levers have lost their ball caps.)

This is probably not the right place to post these but, here are some nice close-ups of the brass candlestick (showing the patterning) which were sent to me:

And - only because I can't find the relevant topic at the moment - a couple (somewhat grainy) pictures of the Communications Room from Power of the Daleks:

I've hunted down the Power of the Daleks thread and because of the wealth of photographic reference material placed it here http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=7020.0
Hope this helps. It is in the Season 4 sub-board of the original console.
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

Hi Nate - thanks for that. I'll post the pics in the relevant topic. Do you want me to remove the Power pictures from this thread?

Tony, big thanks for your observations of that pre-Aztecs set photo. But even bigger thanks for showing us the detailing on the brass column. Wonderful!

I kicked myself for not taking a closer look at the two of these that were on the AAISAT set when I got to visit. Photographs were verboten of course but I could at least have made a few notes & sketches. I did get a good look at the recreated photo roundels. They turned out to be hand-painted, and pretty crude when seen up close, so no use to us TARDIS rivet counters!

I don't think the removal is necessary - I'm sure a future historian will be reading this thread and pop over to the other thread to see what it is about and that is also a form of cross-referencing.

You're welcome Thomas! Here's the brass 'candlestick' in full - I think it's lovely to know that the original still exists (and is available for hire)!

Still trying to keep up on what's happening, though it's not easy with this slug I'm working with. But I would like to thank whoever it was that moved my topic from Off-Topic News into the Reference section where it will always be helpful to everyone. :D (If I'd known that topic was going to get legs and run like it did I'd have posted it in Reference in the first place. :P)

Let me help.:)

It's from The Fire Maker (part 4 of An Unearthly Child) - the lighting, set layout and set furniture  are all consistent with it.

Nice one, thanks very much darren79!  :)

Here's two more shot:

No idea; the set up might not be complete - there's no big light.

Indeed I did. They're both from the final episode of "Planet of the Giants" - you can tell by the upside-down photo blow-up panel!  :)

I initially received these pictures about two years ago on the understanding I wouldn't share them. I kept this promise until I was sent them by a completely separate person to the one who sent them me in the first place!

When I checked, I found that they were also available on another forum and have been there for over twelve months. So, I thought why not share them? They're over fifty years old and hardly show anything which hasn't been seen on DVD. (Oh, and the one from behind the Scanner has been posted here on TB before - I remember pointing out the stencilled "Dr Who 2" on the lower near-side cross-rail.)

After posting them on Twitter, I then got what I can only describe as a 'shitty' e-mail from the person who'd initially sent them to me; this person accused me of breaking my promise and of using the photos to creep to Clayton Hickman. It's seemingly besides the point I've known Clay for well over 12 months and we both have each other's private contact details. So quite why I'd need to creep to him (Clay) is beyond me.....

The person who originally sent me the photos has since 'unfollowed' me on Twitter. Oh the joys of fandom!  ;)

T

P.S., interesting comments about "The Fire Maker". I don't dispute what you're saying Darren but, what is that object on the nearest panel to us in the photograph (it's not there in the screen-grab)? And, to say that this is only the  second time the 'deepened' Canopy was used, it's in a bad state of repair - it looks like someone's been kicking holes in it! (This damage isn't visible in Edge of Destruction/Brink of Disaster - I suppose it could have been repaired by then - though, this is unlikely given that Ray Cusick had by then been instructed to reduce the weight/set-up time of the Tardis set.)

Far right is CG by Celation ;)

Here's a better photo of the Time Destructor (from TV Zone). Sadly it's a black & white version of a colour photo:
