Shada Faux Bookcase

The other day I went to the library, They had a boxes of books outside the door of books that had been retired from the system. There were quite a few hard bound books there. I took them home. I plan to cut the spines off the books (Mostly Reader's Digest Books and Twilight.) I think these discarded books will help me make a cool faux book case.

why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

There are actually places out there that specialize in fake book spines, in stick-on groupings.

A couple examples:

Nate, thanks once again for posting those great images of the book cases (and one with a young Daniel Hill, "Harvey Bains" from 'Waiting For God'!). And, cobalt, great find on those sites for ordering fake book spines. (Now, anyone got a secret passage that needs to be covered by something resembling a bookcase? Maybe the laundry room door? ;))

Using these Three images I believe the centre shelf has  ...Ah, My Goddess! /// 21 books.
So if each shelf were designed and not just Higgledy-piggledy put together, then there are two or three size of each size of book arranged in a different order on each shelf. - If these were in fact crafted from actual books by the BBC design department.

why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.

Just curious, Nate, but can you actually make that out in these images, or are you just having us on? "Shada" was being recorded in late 1979 for an intended release starting in January 1980. The first volume of Ah! My Goddess! (original title Oh My Goddess!) wasn't published until August 23, 1989, with the English version not released until December 7, 2005. (That entire series consists of 48 volumes in three groups: Volumes 1-20, 21-40, and 41-48, with the last volume released July 23, 2014, in English September 30, 2015.)

I know dates mean nothing to Time Lords, but I don't think the BBC Props Guys could have gotten hold of a manga series title ten or so years before it was published in Japan. ;)

Well the "Ah, My Goddess" was more of an expression of interest / surprise / etc. And the original Japanese Title is "Ah, My Goddess!" it was an western Anime VHS company called Animego that chose to change the "Ah" to an "Oh" (Anime Geek mode off....)- I'm making a study of the console I hope we can figure out the approximate size of the books and the color pattern so we can reproduce this prop. :P

Thanks Dino - This bit of teasing was appreciated.
