You are welcome Dino   :)

I was hopping these images would spark someone's interest. As you said, we can only work with what we've got.  I'm sure some of our Console builders will love to set up their console with the appropriate lighting. I look forward to more observations, conversations, and discussions .... meanwhile, I'm going to watch The Aztecs Special Edition DVD to see if Galaxy Four has any console scenes.

With regards to the background panels in Wheel in Space.  I've done some research on those background panels.....

They also appeared in The Underwater menace and inside the TARDIS in The Abominable Snowmen. They first appeared in Daleks' Master Plan and later in The War Machines.

They started life in Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150 AD - in the entry bay of the saucer.

Last time I've seen one is in The Mutants. In the background of the main area of the base.

Well I knew about Underwater Menace, and DMP , but not the others I'll have to grab a few shots.  :D
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

Wow, Nate! That is a lot of images to process (mentally and visually!). Thank you again for posting them. In the last set from "Tomb", it's interesting to see that all of the lights on Panel 6 (that we can see) are off until Troughton flips all five of the Secondary Levers up, and then all of those lights on that panel turn on.

In the "Aztecs" grabs, the close-up on Hartnell's hands as he turns one of those knobs on Panel 4 show two more lights turning on. Probably have to watch that one using the slow-motion feature to see if those lights turn on from that one switch, or if both of his hands are working something. (His left hand is on a switch, but it's hard to tell if he's turning/flipping it, but his right hand is definitely turning a knob when those lights come on.)

As for that Astral Map - how I would love to have a "real" working one of those! (One can dream.)

I suspect the Doctor has been acquiring alien technology and incorporating it into the ship. Get that pre-programed by the Time Lords stuff out of here. One Day this place will be made of Coral.
Looks like the Doctor likes to Nick things.

What's the plaque say above the knob?   "CLOSED" ??

Ooops! Wrong picture... Here's the right one:

Does it say "CLOSED" or maybe "BOARD", or ??
This is the first time I've seen this "plaque with unknown text" almost legible...

Thank you again, Nate, for giving us all of these great reference images! And I love your "Spot the Prop" images. I love to see props being recycled or repurposed, rather than going into the bin after they've been used - sometimes just once - for an episode or story (or even another series... like all of those 'UFO' and 'Space: 1999' consoles that crop up in 'Doctor Who' from time to time).

Dino.

That domed Space Museum prop also turns up in WOTAN's warehouse in The War Machines and as the controls for the X Ray Laser in Wheel In Space. Wouldn't swear to it but I think it can also be spotted in the UNIT lab in Spearhead.

It's a lovely example of bits of old junk thrown together to make something 60s-futuristic. I particularly like the recycled clock faces.

tony farrell

I can't find the reference now but, it was previously identified here on TB as a bought-in prop from an earlier science fiction film.

T

kert gantry

Could it have come from an  Out Of The Unknown? Space Museum being a particularly cash-strapped production, it's quite appropriate that all the exhibits really were 'plundered' from elsewhere!

Well, it wouldn't be the only time:

The Mind Robber re-used these robots (and the control panels previously noted by Nate - though not identical - look to be remarkable similar in size and style to this from "Out of the Unknown" as well)!
