I'm in the process of making Destiny Of The Daleks Movelon Gun. This is what I have so far.

4",  thin sewer pipe

Movelon Gun 01.JPG

4" pipe cap

Movelon Gun 02.JPG

4" custom Christmas ornament half.

Movelon Gun 03.JPG

I glued them all together, then used a gooey wood putty to get the right shape.

Then I sanded with several grit sand papers & spray painted it gray.

Now that I look at my prop as a picture, it looks a little bigger.  ???  What do you think?

I think it looks great! I can't really tell if the size is off, I wouldn't worry about it. You really got the dome looking good; there's no obvious seam. I look forward to more pictures!

When looking at the reference photos in the other section, seeing one in a Movellan's hand, I'd say yours is just about right. I have a scrap of 6-inch pipe and it's way too large (using my arm for reference and comparing it to the actual prop the Movellan is holding). Anything smaller would be too small; you'd never get your hand inside it and be able to make a fist to hold onto the... thing... inside that you use to hold onto. Anything larger would leave too much room between the housing and your arm (unless you're the size of my sister-in-law... not that she's big or anything, but it does take an Olympic relay team to run her belt through its loops).

So I think you've hit this one right on the head with size. And like The Jason said, the dome looks great, there's no visible seam in the joint, and I can't wait to see more of this one come together!

Dose anyone have measuring software to make a printout for a part?
If I make a rough drawing of the pieces with their measurements. Can someone make some sort of measurement diagram blueprint based on those to fill in the blanks?
All I need is the measurement of one of the fins to make a set of four, & it will tell me the size of the emitter rings.

The O.D. of the emitter ring slides into the inside of the fin, & the I.D., or hole of the ring starts at the outside of the fin.
With two fins, I can measure the length between the two slits to make out how big the O.D. & I.D. of the ring is.

I have drafting software and can create a dimensioned template. Private message me with the details.

Just to let you know, It may take awhile. I recently bought myself a digital caliper, & am waiting for it to come in the mail. Once it dose, I'll be able to send you the measurements to my prop.

Nice job so far, I thought of making this years ago, but I don't have access to the perspex/plastic or the money.
be nice to see when you finish. :-)

According to Peter Logan's original design spec, it lists these parts from EMA Models -

Dome (VHH 450) - http://www.ema-models.co.uk/index.php/hemispherical-head-114-3mm.html

Tube (VT 450) -http://www.ema-models.co.uk/index.php/vessel-tubing-114-3mm.html

- both of which have an outer diameter of 114.3mm (exactly 4.5 inches), so you're not a million miles off.

It's looking great so far, by the way!

Elkad, you should quote lofiscifi's post in your next Update so when these comments collapse as you make your Update, his post and that amazing drawing don't become hidden.

I cleaned up the pic & tried to make out the spelling. Tell me if I misspelled, misread, blanked out or just missed something entirely.

Oops!  :o the sphere pic was for my Gravitic Anonymizer. I've bin working on two projects & got mixed up on which to put it on.  ;D

Davros Skaro

just to help you out as asked, "Mitalk sheath" is "Metallic sheath", other than that you've done well.

Maybe "Mitalik" is the Movellan word and spelling for our Earthling "Metallic"? (Anything is possible in the Whoniverse! ;D) And I wouldn't worry about the pic of the 3-inch sphere, elkad; whether for a Gravitic Anomaliser or a Movellan gun, if both use a 3-inch diameter sphere for the prop, well, one sphere looks just like the other. So it's all good there.

while looking for some good pics for this, I found this web site, with some pics of originals, hope you get some good views of it here, http://www.eagletransporter.com/forum/showthread.php?t=151675

also looks like the pink perspex does go through the dome too.

P.S. hope I've put this on the right post, if not let me know.

That's an excellent reference link, davros skaro! Thanks for posting it. Those are some fantastic images. (Is anyone here also a member of Eagle Transporter? It would be nice to ask Andy H. if we could post his images here - giving him credit for the images - so we could have a decent reference for our members.)
