Ah, the only 'update' here was to add the little half-inch square to the right of the 'finger-grip' knob. (Like the vertical strip above the main meter, it only seemed to last for the first few stories and was either removed or fell off very early on.)

Someone mentioned that the main 'article' doesn't give the dimensions of the ancillary switch (even though they're here in this thread). I'll try to add both to the main article next week. Does that give you all you want/need?

Tony, I don't see this. Panel 4 is the other side of console, Hartnell stands at Panel 2, operates the demat lever on panel 1, and reaches round to the next panel, panel 3. But he can't possibly reach Panel 4 surely??? That would be reaching across 2 panels, surely impossible. Take another look at the clip and let me know what you think. BTW I agree with your theory about panel 4, just not sure Hartnell is operating panel 4 in this clip.

During the aborted take-off from Skaro in The Dead Planet (just before he removes the fluid link), the console is again operated from Panel 4:panel 4 operation of 2.png

In the same scene, whilst Bill Hartnell's hands are still on the controls of Panel 4, the central column begins to rise:
