I remember on at least one occasion them (Ian, if I failing memory serves!) shutting the door by simply pulling on the various parts of the thing...

Gorgeous TARDIS Stu... I think that makes you our January 2007 TARDIS Builder of the Month!

That looks amazing! What did you do to the inside of your windows to make them opaque? I still need to do that on mine.

wow georgeous build, really looks the part.  Great work and sorry you had to let her go.  At least she has a good home as you said.

Hi Stu,
Awesome looking build there! I love the texturing as well, the whole thing looks very authentic! Any plans to build another one at some point? (assuming you have the space ;-)

cheers
Chris

Very nice Hartnell replica TARDIS
I don't understand how you could bear to give it away
I hope you've negotiated visitation rights

Is it David James you gave the box to?
If it is its defiantly in good hands.

Thanks Everyone,

Gosh, word gets round quick! Yes Tom, its David James that owns the box now, although I didn't give it away. David actually helped out building the box and offered to give it a good home, so I sold it to him knowing that he would look after it. Who better to look after a Tardis than a fellow prop builder?

Simon: the opaque windows were achieved by simply painting the inside of them with emulsion paint. Each window frame has two 60s pebbled glass panes and four frosted glass ones, held in place with glazing putty.

I don't have plans to build another one for various reasons, not the least being a complete lack of time and space, not to mention pebbled glass :)

Stu certainly does have all the visitation rights he wants! I'm using it as a lure to get him into my workshop so I can bleed him dry of all his Dalek-building expertise :-) Here it is in its current environment:

Stu,

Absolutely smashing job, mate!!!! ;D
I think your colour looks great...
You just used Oxford Blue?  Was that just the base and you added a black masonry paint in a dry wash?
Just curious...

The detail is most impressive... Congrats on your build.

Jon ;)

Thanks a lot Jon, thats very kind of you.

The base coat was Oxford Blue, although one thing I did find was that shades of Oxford Blue varied from one paint manufacturer to another! I just picked the one that I thought looked right. As you've guessed the second coat was a patch coat of black and blue, blended to give it that old and (time) travelled look.

Best regards,
Stu
