Would it be possible for someone to identify the font that is used on the keypad keys on the current console?

Looks similar to Arial Narrow to me.

Actually, this time it looks like Swiss 721 Narrow SWA is a closer match:

The R is certainly a better match to the props. The O and D could be a little flatter on the sides, but now that my Forum access problem is back again, I can't play around with it while logged in. (If I'm idle for too long I have to reboot my router or I'll get a "Can't connect to server" error when I click on anything. Looks like I'll be calling my provider again on Monday.)

Anyway, I'll play with it more off-Forum and see if I have a font with the proper R like this, and a proper, flatter O and D like on the prop.

Thanks for identifying the font. Dino, would you mind if I printed off those "RETRO TIME FWD" and "RETRO TIME BWD" stickers for my TARDIS console's keyboard?

Kind regards, The14thDr :D

Thanks for identifying the font. Dino,

You're welcome, 14th; but let's call it "partially" IDing the font. Remember, while the R looks right, as do most of the other letters, there are still the D and O that look more rounded than those on the actual keys. So the hunt for the "exact" ID is still on.

Not at all. Anything I post here is free for member use. (If it's a really high-res graphic that I have to e-mail someone, then I do charge a fee: a high-res image of their completed build that I can print out and frame and hang on my wall! :D)

So far, though, I think I have a dozen or so of those high-res images to collect on. Trouble is, I can't remember all of the members I've e-mailed the graphics to! (I really need to work on my bookkeeping. :))

Thanks for posting that photo of the keys, Justin! (And to make it easier to look at):

KeyboardKeys.jpg

And getting a head-on look at those keys, it appears that the best font match so far is that Swiss 721 Narrow SWA. Even the numbers - at least the "1" - is a spot on match. (Even the O and D do look more rounded head-on than they do in the off-side angle, so I could say the Swiss 721 Narrow SWA is it.)

I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your help everyone!

You will hopefully see why I asked very soon...

For the keyboard font:

...something like that should fit the bill.

This might be a better place to get the Helvetica font:

http://www.myfontfree.com/search.php?key=helvetica+condensed

This one is a free download, and the "Condensed" search yields 45 variations. If you want to see all 165 of the Helvetica font choices, again all free downloads, look here:

http://www.myfontfree.com/search.php?key=helvetica

Just click on the "Download" button for the font style you like. That will open a new window, and after about 5 seconds or so, the download automatically starts. The font labeled "HELVETICA NEUE" downloads a folder containing many variations on its own, with both OTF and TTF fonts, so I would start with that one first. (The folder will download as "helveticanueueblack".)

I hope this helps.

I suppose the best way of getting the exact font would be to buy one of the keyboards!

It's an old control keyboard from the National Grid (the UK's electricity distribution network). Bob's Bits has got 17 of them, £70.00 each. Click here for the direct link.
