Wow, suddenly I'm looking forward to the new season more than ever!  ;D

I'm kinda curious whether this is going to be Clara's "new look", or if it's just for this story alone. Personally I think it'd be kind of a shame to lose the skirts, although I can see why they might think that was too playful a look next to Capaldi's darker and more serious Doctor.

And oh hey, I guess there's a TARDIS in the background as well... or something....

DoctorWho8

I think her purple suit is just for that story.  It looks like she's dressed for the 1980's.

The box is definitely looking a lot more muted... with a less obvious wood grain (it looks like it's on its way to being almost as frayed around the edges as Tennant's was in The Day of the Doctor).

New companion Pearl Mackie (Bill) has given her first interview... is it me or has the Police Box prop been given another makeover?
Looks to be a darker shade of blue, everso slightly glossy.
Heres a link.

Thoughts chaps?

Could be. Hard to really tell because most of the lighting is coming from behind both her and the TARDIS in just about the entire video. If we could find some decent publicity photos floating around that might help. Also remember, the filters they use when filming make things look brighter (i.e. those red and gold uniforms from ST: TNG on are actually a dark burgundy and "Goulden's Brown Mustard" color in person; it's the high-contrast lenses they have on the cameras that make the colors look red and gold).

We may have to wait for the official release of some promo shots taken from scenes of some episodes to see how much the TARDIS has changed color. It would be a sudden stark contrast to have the Old Girl go from the increasing blue that built up from Series 5 through to Series 9 to a drastic dark blue in Series 10. (If I was the producer/show runner and wanted to change the color that much, I'd work down to it: gradually darken her in each episode, then film an episode or two that takes place in the dark, then one without the TARDIS a la "Cold War" - both dark and with a very brief cameo from the TARDIS - and then spring the new color on the fans. But that's just me.)

I have to admit, though, it would be nice to see the Old Girl getting closer to the Hartnell color once again.

Looks like there isn't a lot of lighting on it to be honest, also for a lot of the things on the new companion, they've been using a box that they don't film with, could be one of them with lighting fitted for pictures.

Wasn't sure to start a new thread, but looking at it the overall shape of the box hasn't changed dramatically.

First images of the Series 10 TARDIS prop. No spoilers.

At first glance nothing much has changed from the series 9 prop.

Spotted a small change to the lamp. It now has a white tube inside rather than showing the bulb itself. The box still light up the same but this small addition makes the lamp look more illuminated even when not light up.

And here it is a night, bit obsecured but can see the overall lighting setup has not changed

Only managed to get these few shots. :)

Great photos I must say. Is it me or have they also altered the lettering on the phone panel door? It looks to me that they have changed the sizes and the spacing of the words.

In addition, the internal pipe lagging isn't present.

I noticed that as well. (I'm still waiting for them to return to the original ways: the lamp stays out, and just flashes when the TARDIS comes and goes - no more CGI "flaring" of a constantly-lit lamp.)

And we're very grateful to you for sharing them with us!

Nope; it's not you, LMC. I know we're not looking at the Series 10 Phone Panel head-on, but when comparing the Series 9 panel with this new one:
PhonePanelSeries9.jpg
Series 9;

PhonePanelSeries10.jpg
Series 10;
The "boldness" of the lettering could just be that we're seeing the Series 10 panel from a very oblique angle and seeing more of the letters' sides, but the vertical spacing between the lines is definitely different than that on the Series 9 panel. The "paragraphs" lines are closer together, while the spacing between the paragraphs is larger. So that much is evident.

For a better comparison of the lettering itself we'll need to get a better "head-on" image of the Series 10 phone panel.

I noticed that as well, Tony. It's possible they weren't completely done setting up, or that the lagging wasn't needed for this particular scene. We'll have to wait for the episodes to start airing before we can make a call on that one. (We don't want to jump the gun like so many over-excited fans did when the BBC announced that Jenna Coleman was going to be the 11th Doctor's new companion; before the character's name was released, the fan community had already spread the word that she was "Benny", a character lifted from the comics and other novels. You should have heard those fans' gnashing of teeth when the official announcement came that she was "Clara Oswald", and not "Benny"!)

Oh, that was ugly. It was so ugly it was like something climbed to the top of the ugly tree, slipped, fell, and hit every branch and stick on the way down. It was so ugly it had to sneak up on a glass of water!

My comment about the lack of pipe lagging was simply an observation Dino - I'm not 'jumping any guns' or making any inferences from that observation. For you to link this simple observation to any previous debate about the naming of a companion (in which I took no part, about which I know nothing and have no interest in) is a little disingenuous of you. :)

Partly because I wanted to see the difference for myself, and partly because I'm enjoying playing with the perspective correction tools, I knocked this up from the two recent images to show just how significant the changes are. It even looks like PULL TO OPEN is a different height.

Also I think it looks like the 'PUBLIC CALL' text of the top signs don't look as 'squashed' as they have been in the past.
Distorting fonts is something that distresses me... that and comic sans :)

Well it appears there are a few differences with the series 10 prop. So far I spotted the new phone panel. I didn't realise the 'Public Call' was different. It does appear to be less squashed. Well, we will know for sure as soon as the new series is out.

My face is in the dirt. :-[ You have my humblest apologies, Tony. That comment wasn't aimed specifically at you; I never do that. It was more of a broad spectrum 'let's be careful' comment for everyone (hence the "we" in that part of my comments). Also, I was not linking you with that incident of the companion's name; I was only using that incident as an example of what could happen if people see a comment - or an observation - and run in the wrong direction with it.

It's all too easy for one person's observations to be taken to the next level and passed on as fact. And that's what happened with the whole 11th Doctor's new companion thing. One person made the comment (this person never used "observation", only "looks a little like") about Jenna Coleman's physical appearance. And that comment of "looks a little like" was quickly picked up and turned into "This is who she is". So my comment was just a suggestion of temperance to everyone with regard to the non-appearance of the lagging. All it takes is one person - and there are many out there who are not members here but who can still read the boards (just not the Members Only areas) - that could see your observation (you said "the internal pipe lagging isn't present") and turn that into a "fact": that we'll have a new console room in Series 10 because "the lagging is gone". Just like with the comment on an actress' appearance and then the companion's name, that's not what was initially said, but it was misquoted and then taken as fact by overeager readers and false information flowed throughout the fan community.

I hope that explains my comment a little more. I was never insinuating that you were the one "jumping the gun", but as I said here, my comment with "we", was for a measure of temperance so none of us - myself included - did the jumping.

Dino.
P. S. I think I'll call it quits for the night and head to bed because now I really feel like crap.
