Hello

As a first message, I would like to say that I am currently working on the console itself. It is in the style of the first era consoles. I have about three and a half panels completed to my liking (suggestions are welcome once pictures are up), which leaves basically the last two. After I fully complete the console I will put some screenshots of it up on this build. I will (once the console pics are up) then be keeping you all up to date (mostly) on the progress of the time rotor, console room and other rooms (if it indeed comes to the point of having other rooms.)

That about sums up what I have for now. I will hopefully finish up the console within the next week or so. Might I say that in the time I have known about this forum (about 6 years I think it is now) I have always loved seeing all the progress and new builds that pop up; from scarfwearer, to celation, and handofomega, and all the others which are so very talented. Thank you all and I look forward to hearing things in response to this build of mine.

Welcome out of "Lurk Mode", acialist! You're now one of the TARDIS Builders Family. Scarfwearer is no longer with us, but he does peek in from time to time to see what's new.

And since you've been poking around for a few years, I'll just say that now you are a member and have access to Member Only areas, when you get a chance, please do check out the http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=6011.0 post; it has good advice on many things (a few of which you're probably aware), and a few links to free PDF downloads (file formats that aren't supported by the Forum software so we can't post them in our http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=77.0 section): some plans, the TARDIS Builders Workshop Manual, and issues like why photos look upright when you view them on your computer, but end up sideways when posted on the Forum. Lots of good info, but it's a bit long so don't feel like you have to go through it all at once.

Welcome out of Lurk Mode once again!

Dino.

I am using Sketchup. I have used this for a while (almost eight years now), so I am rather comfortable with it.

I thought I would post a teaser.

Hello (Seems too formal, suggestions welcome on some kind of greeting),

Anyhow, given that I have insomnia, I usually work a lot during the night hours on things. In regards to that, I have gotten a considerable amount done I'd say. I have shadows and fog turned on. I like the look in this picture because it reminds me of "The Mind Robber" episode (which is in fact my favorite out of the old and new episodes) when the doctor activates the fast return switch and they end up in "Nowhere".

The sketch looks really cool, acialist. You're quite talented. As for the way you start out a post? Well... it varies depending on what feels right to you. We've seen just about everything including:

Hello...
Hi...
Greetings...
Dudes...
Salutations...
In today's update...
Here's where things are so far...
Last week as you recall...
(Oh, no... wait: wrong series ;))

But you get the idea. We're pretty easygoing, so whatever feel best to you is what you should go with.

Last Time On The Somewhat Slightly Building Chronicles Of Acialist The Time Traveler...

Well, some progress. I love the look of old 40's, 50's and 60's computers. I feel as though this build will end up going somewhat in that direction. Furthermore towards that style, I plan to do various things that will look somewhat "picturesque" from the view point of all the wonderful futurists that lived back then. After all, we are supposed to have flying cars by now...the ones with fins...and curves...oh well. I already have a few reference pictures saved of old computers (the size of rooms/entire floors of office buildings) and quite don't know what to search for in terms of the 60's future stuff. Help is appreciated on reference images that individuals might find well suited to be incorporated into a time machine (time and relative dimensions in space time...TARDIST?...that sorta works...)...things with curve-y, future-y looking aspects.
Anyway, I have decided to have the console room be rather fluid in terms of structure; not the average hexagonal room, but various wall and hallways leading to various room. There is the console room with the computer banks section and then on the other side of the computer banks I have more computer-y things that relate to the face structure in the console room section. The side facing the computer banks will simply function as a "read out" wall for various main systems regarding time circuits and things like this. On the other side (which I will call the "external computing room") I have more of the large computer related items. I plan to have a central console at which to sit at (various large quantities of lights and switches) and a few rows of large computers shown in the sections on the wall. I will also possibly make a space in which all the real to reals are kept.

P.S.
Check this out (was just searching for images and found this very interesting thing)

Might use it as a basis for another room later on...

Thanks very muchly so!
I do actually like these a lot and I will be sure to put them in the external computing room somewhere among the mass sums of computer terminals lol

The next time I post, the entire external computing room will be completed. Well, all of the computers anyway. Rooms themselves are still a bit in flux at the moment.

>insert greeting here<

Well, I have done a bit of things. I had decided to mess more around with fog and shadows, given I do not have access to any outboard rendering software or would know how to use any at that matter. So here are some things. My next project is getting all the large computer systems installed in the external computing room, and then I will work primarily on the console room/set/thing for a while unless something else strikes up my attention.

handofomega

With all the computer banks it reminds me a bit of the Cushing TARDIS interior.

Absolutely stunning work, I like it very much! But one detail I should point out - in your model, the SAGE console has an angled back - making it unbalanced. The back panel should be at a 90° angle from the floor, giving it a broader base. It's hard to see that in the picture, I know.

I might add some detailing on the back of it as well.
