It's actually a piece of clear acrylic sprayed translucent blue...

It's still not finished yet, I still need to fit the motors and control mechanism. I've also noticed that I've still got to fit the little label under the eyestalk

Have to admit I'm not 100% happy with the dome and the neck. It will do for now, but there's a few little things that I know I could do better if I had another stab at it...

You're too modest, Steve. The neck and dome look just fine. (Remember that "You are your own worst critic" saying? ) Tweak away at things if you really want to, but just know that your menacing home security system looks just fine from where we're standing (which is hopefully out of weapons range!).

Speaking of weapons, are you planning to have your Dalek shoot some sort of steam (CO₂, nitrogen, etc.) from the gun? (If it wasn't for the possibility of a seriously dramatic law suit, I'd think of a way of having the gun's extending rod connect to a Tesla Coil so when the gun "fires" and that rod extends (as in the Classic Daleks to flap the curled foil vanes), the rod would shoot a lightning bolt at the ground. Problem is, anyone standing close enough would get that bolt before the ground did... and that's where the law suit comes in.)

Sorted out the weathering on the dome so that the recesses are more visual, and I also got the lights working...

Next up I need to counterweight the dome, as the weight of the eyestalk is causing the domes backside to lift a little. Then it need to install the motors...
