I think the last message crashed on me.  If it's there, then it's repeat info.  Quicker version :

Found I had A3 Plans in a drawer.  Thought I'd share them.  Hope they're of use.  Happy building to all.

Sorry I think those files were dead by the time I got to them too - hopefully someone else here has them because I'd like them too!

I've been off the forums for a while, but I'm back, and I've scanned some files I think may be of use.

Below are links to download them off the net - from a free file site that is advertising free and registration free, but requires you to wait a few seconds before the download link button appears on the appropriate page.

They are :

The Police Box plans.  The original Police Box - the proper Tardis, if you like.  A3 plans available in jpeg and pdf formats.

Police_ Box_ A3_Plans.jpg (975.82 kB) found here :

At long last, THE POLICE POST plans.  Probably much easier to build than the Police Box, takes up less space, and not copyright BBC.  A3 plans available in jpeg and PDF formats.

Police-Post-A3-plans.pdf (1.97 MB) found here :

I have some actual Police Post logo plates (from a unit I don't have any more).  They are slightly damaged, but as 300dpi actual size scans they will allow builders to match text, kerning and spacing to make great replicas if you're making your own Police Post.

Police-Post-Frontplate-photo.jpg (2.68 MB) found here :

I spent a day in 1987 going round the City of London looking for, finding and photographing the Police Posts that were then existant in the streets.  I don't think any of them exist there any more (though there is a smashed up one still on the northside of the Thames, on the embankment walk, between Blackfriars and Cleopatra's Needle).

From these photos, I have selected amd scanned the following three images.

The first is a close up of the City of London crest.  This is the clearest and least damaged crest which appeared on the top 'head' of the Police Posts.

Police-Post-City-London-crest-photo.jpg (1.19 MB) found here :

http://www.filesend.net/download.php?f=0dd0fef17019136d10f8c93a4abf21c3

Here are two photos of Police Posts I found in 1987.

The first shows the rare raised and extended lamp fitting.

Police-Post-angle-lamp-photo.jpg (190.47 kB) found here :

http://www.filesend.net/download.php?f=0df82f98eacd188759202bd8ba689147

The second is a nice front-on shot of a then existant Police Post near Temple.

Police-Post-front-on-photo.jpg (510.59 kB) found here :

http://www.filesend.net/download.php?f=9c49984ff3207d7b41200cd8423b79f3

Hope these files are of use to the group.

I still have other A0 plans for the Police Post.  These give details and sizes of individual features and fittings of the Police Post.  I evaluated them, but don't think they add anything for the enthusiast who can build from the plans.

Thanks!  These are really interesting.

If you're willing to upload other plans or pictures of the Police Post, I would be interested in downloading them.

I have the full plans from the Met.  I used them to make my model.  Would anyone be interested in a scan of them?

Stunning scans theukarchivist - thank you so much for scanning and posting these.

Do you mind me asking what date the Police Box plans were drawn up? - the date is missing from the scan and I'd love to know the full date.

Thank you again!

My plans are a bit brown & faded (they're a 20 year old photocopy), but the UNI where I work has an A0 scanner, so shame not to use the facilities.

Not fantastic quality but better than I expected (the small numbers written in black felt tip were on it when I received it).

Suggest you right-click on this link and save it to your PC.  The file is only about 1Mb in size.

These are absolutely fantastic - thank you so much for sharing those with us  :)

Is it my imagination, or is the floor sloping in those plans?

I was worried that the quality of this pdf wasn't very good at all.  I've had it for over 30 years (I wrote to the Met when I was a teenage DW fan) and the copy is looking somewhat like the Turin Shroud now - the paper is a sort of nicotine yellow, while the drawing itself is fading to a dark brown.

Eventually I guess I'll just have a large sheet of yellowish-brown paper!  :(

I've also tried copying sections of the image out to a graphics program, but it drags out so much speckle that it's almost worthless.  I guess the only way is to actually reprint the PDF out.

I'm glad someone likes it though, and yes the floor is sloped isn't it?  Maybe that's for drainage of any rainwater that seeps in.  I've never been inside a real one, so I don't know if all floors slope.

Quote from: theukarchivist board=manual thread=589 post=11505 time=1197378693Only just got back on the net after being months off it.

Noticed the original link to the Police Box plans now asks you to register, so stuff that - I've posted them again for hassle free download here :

http://files-upload.com/files/672254/PoliceBox%20A3%20Plans.pdf

Cut and paste to browser.

By the way, is anyone currently building one from these plans?

I'm having trouble getting this link to work by clicking and copy/paste to browser.

Hi everyone,

Although I am new to the site, I have been a Who fan for many years.  I downloaded some plans (I think it was from kiosk or police box corner) about 8 years ago.  I have zipped the 11 gifs into a single archive for convenience.  THe images look similar to those posted by lorisarvendu but it looks like they were scanned in sections - hope they are useful

I cannot open the file from Zango and the link above will not load. If anyone has these files and would be so kind to email them to me, it would be greatly appreciated. kingvolcano@aol.com
