Hope I'm putting this in the right place, but I was watching YouTube, and saw a clip from a Daytime talk show on BBC 1, during the 25th Anniversary, where Jon Pertwee was followed out of the PPCB by Sylvester McCoy after Ace (Sophie Aldred) had popped out to say hello to the presenter.

I was not too surprised to see the 'PULL TO OPEN' door panel was missing, but by how much the old girl was shaking when the two Doctors were getting out, so which box did they use for that?

As before, hope I am not asking in the wrong place, but has anyone got any screen grabs or info on this, as I don't know who uploaded the video.

I've found the clip and grabbed a shot of the Old Girl as she arrived:

I may be wrong, but basing my guess on the Top Sign boxes, I think this is the Tom Yardley-Jones (TY-J) Mk II. Also, that's the TARDIS version used during the Sylvester McCoy years, so it would make sense that the TY-J Mk II was the prop used for this. Not only is the Phone Panel missing, but the signage on those Top Signs is also missing. (Sign-wise, the Old Girl is naked!) And yes; she looks rather wobbly, but by 1988 (the 25th Anniversary year), this model - if she is the TY-J Mk II - had already seen almost five years of wear and tear: being broken down and set up again and again here and there, and no doubt also experienced some prop-handling abuse during those relocations (and being shifted from one place to another in storage during the hiatus months). So to be fair, with two Doctors battling to see which one will squeeze through the doors first, I'm not a bit surprised at how much she "rattles about".

Nice pic, and I thank you for the reply.
I did not notice the top signs were missing too, one thought though, why was none of this included with Silver Nemesis unless it was put with the re-release of Remembrance...., odd thing also, if they knew it was going to appear however briefly, why could 'they' not make sure it looked as it should have been when they set it up in the studio?

I believe one of the boxes has two sets of working doors? I presume this is the back of the prop, hence signs and door sign missing?

I could be wrong, but I was sure that both boxes had two sets of doors, but as well as the handles being a giveaway as to which one was being used and which way round it was, the other thing to look for was which door the lock was on?

This could have been the rear of the box but for a few details (and I know I'll be corrected if I'm wrong).

The Top Sign on the side is also missing its signage, and if this is the rear we're looking at, we know that "side" (the right when viewed from the front) did have a Top Sign in it pretty much without fail (the unaired Pilot not withstanding). Also, I believe the rear doors were identical to the front doors as far as handles and the lock go, and while there would have been no Phone Panel (as we've seen in some of McCoy's episodes) they would have opened outward as they had done on the other TARDIS props (at least those that did have rear doors; the Newbery didn't have any rear to it at all, unless you count that black curtain hanging on the back).

These doors open inward when anyone goes in or out, which would lead one to think this was just the "undressed" prop. And if it was the prop without its signage, it boggles the mind as to why no one thought to put at least the Phone Panel and the front Top Sign in place.

All guesswork on my part, but it might spark more ideas or memories in others.

It's the MK1. The Door handle is positioned below the lock, which is centered to the inset below the window.  The MK2 has the lock positioned along the style below the inset (like on the new series props) and the door handle is centered to the inset below the window.  Also, the MK2 has a taller base than the MK1.

Excellent, Bill! If anyone could tell the difference between the TY-J Mk1 and Mk2, I knew it would be you. Thanks for clarifying that. (I was just guessing on the Mk.)

Well, know you know how to tell the difference between the two.  The lock positions for the opposite side of the boxes where the door sign is the primary opening door follows the same logic.

Hi, me again.
So it was the Mk1 prop box. Ya know I know that both boxes were alike, but I sorta love the TYJ Mk1 more, odd innit. Yet if I could build a model, and try and do it decent, with opening doors and flashing lights I would probably still try to replicate the Newbery TYJ 'cos of Logopolis. As that was the story that started me on the journey to become a Whovian.

This might seem and sound odd, but when I replied earlier, the time where I am was an hour later then the time my reply was saying it was done as, it's probably not a big worry, but it's like not something I saw before, but then I don't send many messages, and the last quiz before this one was about the Tardis Tent, and that was ages ago now, even I can't recall when it was. I know like the 4th Doc, I don't really make sense, but should there be a gap of an hour between 'here' and there?

It has to do with Daylight Savings Time. I don't think the Forum adjusts for that because I've noticed that same hour discrepancy in my posts, but it only happens during DST. On Standard Time there is no hour difference between "here" and "there" (as you so aptly put it). And it's why I say that only we Time Lords should be messing about with time, and not world governments!

Does that explanation make sense? (It's the only one I can come up with, and it's been like that since I've been with the Forum.)
