Wow! What exquisite detailing! Did you make it so that "vaporizing" port can light up; or maybe that should be, is it openable so some lighting could be put inside it?

Thanks :) No it's static Dino. To make it open would be almost impossible, at least for my skills. I'm not sure even the original did that as there seems there was more than one prop used and if you look closely they are very different.

I'll have to take a closer look the next time BBC America airs that episode (even though "Dark Water" and "Death in Heaven" have to be the two worst episodes ever made during the New Series). But I'd suffer through it to get another look at the prop.

Since there's no way of getting a light inside, have you thought about maybe using a small red reflector in that "ZAP!" port? Or some red reflector tape?

Which port do you mean Dino ? The one with the shutter feature, or the larger blank port ? The thing is unless its in destruct mode neither of the ports are red. The shutter port is closed as per my replica and the larger port is just blank. As the effects were CGI I felt it more appropriate to leave my prop in static mode. One of the original props on display at the Who exhibition has the larger port painted red simply for effect, and personally I think it looks dreadful.

Now that I'm not sure of; I'd have to re-watch the episodes again to find that out. But the port I was referring to is whichever one is the "destruct/disintegrator/kill" port.

I do remember that. I was thinking if the "blank" port was the destruct port, a red reflector would be pretty dark until a light source hit it just right (like the flash from a camera as someone took a photo with it aimed at the photographer). Then it would show up as though it was lit up.

You probably made the better decision with that one. One would think the DWE would have at least used some sort of red reflective tape rather than paint for the effect. (It would look better than paint.)

Superlative Work Sir!

You're very kind. Looking back at it now it involved SO much work that I really have no idea how I got to the end of it.
