What everyone else said! (I'm even starting to run out of words to make up! Let's call this one SupercalifragilisticFrackme-alidocious!)

Just a test based on Tony's measurements. The only thing I've changed is that the angle between the markings and radiation lamp is now 19° and 21° (rather than 18° and 27°) because there was less than half the last marking visible.

I'll also find a better font for DANGER and when I use it in the model, I won't use the black mask (that's just for positioning).

Like this?  Not much of the last division is visible:

Oh, I could probably adjust it more like that.

I was trying to follow your diagram :)

It also looks like the markings have just a thin separation between them (as in the image in Tony's post). They look like "curvy rectangles" with just a line in between them, rather than the equal-sized, almost squarish markings and separations like you've got Marc. (No offense intended; just trying to help achieve accuracy.)

As for the "DANGER" font, could it be the same "Keep Calm" font that was used on the TARDIS' Top Signs? It looks very similar. The font for "RADIATION", though, is different, and I'm not sure what that one is.

I appreciate where Marc is coming from - as I've stated, I'm at the limit of what I can do in 'Paint', so any help with the type face/graphics is helpful. For comparison here is my drawing alongside one of the screen grabs I worked from.

Within the limits of Paint, I'm fairly close.....rad comp.png

No offence taken. I should have time to fix it tomorrow :)

The font for "RADIATION" is still a different one that what you have in your drawing, Tony, and I wish I knew which font it is, but I can't find a good match to the font on the meter in that still. (Maybe I've just been looking through fonts for too long and need a break. Passing the font-finding torch to someone else now.) But I am still in awe that you are able to create drawings this sharp and accurate using only PAINT! You've got to be a genius. (And my scribbles in PAINT prove that I... am not!)

I've made a few screen grabs of the panel and have made a few notes.
_Robs DVD rippapolza-0-01-02-885.jpg

- the corners of the inset display are much more rounded.
- the rounded front curve comes to a sharper corner.
- from watching the light move across the black knob I don't think it's the standard 8 sided kind. The center is much flatter. I think it has many more finger grip grooves around its edge.
- you can also see in the top-left corner of the display bezel it is not aligned. As well there is a gap at the bottom left of the bezel

If its of any help, for my model Hartnell console I used Franklin Gothic Extra Condensed for the 'RADIATION' type, though it could be BUREAU GROTESQUE ONE THREE. Both would have tracking applied to match the character spacing.

Based on the leg of the R, the slope of the A, and overall squareness of the D and the O I'd say that the font is Helvetica Neue Light Standard.

I've long suspected it was one of those signs cut into a sandwich of black/white/black plastic. But they are normally computer controlled, which I suspect would rule it out in 1963.
