Okay, so I've now started working on the second panel, Navigation!

Second Panel Half finished.png

The keypad inputs the destination date, etc. 06/09/2014
The keyboard inputs the destination itself, etc. Great Wall of China
The big red lever is the Space-Time throttle (I'll let everyone else think about what that does ;)
The compass sets the direction your TARDIS doors are facing when you land, etc. spin it so the arrow is pointing south, to land southwards.
The green switch locks where you are (if you are landed) so that you only move through Time, not space.

All thats left is the monitor, (which I've decided is linked to the scanner, e.g. Picture seen on Monitor = Same picture on scanner.) and the switch that lets you use both the keyboard and the keypad for where you land, and when activated, lets you only use the keypad (for co-ordinates)

A nice start, looks a little bare but it's your console!

Wait until the monitor appears, its gonna take up like half the panel ;)

Its been a long time. I've been so busy being inactive. I'm back, with an update to my console. I've added a 'power' thingy, take a lookie for yourselves.

So, I restarted my Console Room. To be honest, it was getting sort of old, and boring, so I decided to restart it. Note that this won't be the final shape of the room, as I might put in a under walkway bit, thing, whatever.

I hope you all like it

It's your Tardis, you can change the look as much as you want! Experimenting is fun!

the_prop_maniac

Yay! I finally found some time to do some updating! Well, a minor touch, but it's a nice one. I've also figured out how to just about manage to get my photos under 500KB, by putting it in a lower res.

And a new table! I dunno what I should put here, maybe a cup of tea, or jelly babies, I dunno.

In "Mummy on the Orient Express", the Doctor pulled out a cigarette case with jelly babies under the elastic, but that might be hard to model.

the_prop_maniac

Well, when its closed, it might be somewhat do-able.

SketchUp does NOT like domed corners, as seen on the cigarette case. The best I've managed to do is this.

I don't know if I should do a prop build for this case or not. I think I'll do one, if I can get over the issue of it being a nuisance

You can draw a line with curved corners then create a small extrusion plate with a curved edge.

dome3.png

Select your guide line segments (including the curved corners) then use the Follow Me tool to select your extrusion plate.

Because of the small size of this model, I have to fix the hole, then I can put a square panel inside to fill the center.

I did have a arc edge to my one, but then, when I tried to make the domed corner, it flipped out. There was one case when I managed it, but it ended up looking horrible, so I deleted it.

Welp. I finally found some time to do this update (at around midnight... ::) ). Anyway, this is the first render of it, by not entirely of the whole room, so if you want extra pictures (I know Dino would love that ;D ), just ask.

Console.jpg

I probably should explain the weird looking time rotor. Basically, I wanted to do a 7th Doctors inside, but with triangles, but because squares and circles are the only things the SketchUp likes, I decided to make a circle one. The red bits light up and the diamond on the top spins when in flight mode, or when traveling through time. Did I mention my TARDIS is more geared towards flying?

I love that concept - especially the spinning diamond on top. Now that would have been something nice to see added to the current console's central column: can't really call it a Time "Rotor" since nothing inside it 'rotors'. All you have is that top central spike that retracts and extends when the TARDIS is in flight. A more apt term for it would be "Time Column"; the Time "Rotor" could be the whirligig on top of it since that thing certainly spins like a rotor!

Dino.
P. S. And yes; post more pictures, please! ;) :) :D ;D

the_prop_maniac

Well, this is for Dino (and a lot of others, so I'm told), a whole load of pictures! (three, really, but oh well.) The lighting of the time rotor picture does take an INCREDIBLY long time, so I'm going to stick to not lighting anything apart from the sun unless its absolutely necessary.
