Not sure if of interest, but the new experience exhibition is positively overflowing with TARDIS exteriors and interiors. Not much different from before, but the War Doctors is there, plus the Hartnell replica from "an adventure in space and time"

And a replica of the original Hartnell TARDIS by the front entrance of the foyer. ;)

Like with Universal Orlando's 'The Magical World of Harry Potter', can we get one of these built in the US (only not in Florida, please? Everything seems to go either in Florida - Orlando being the hot spots for Universal and nearby Disney - or California, or even Las Vegas!). Someplace within easier reach, say like Atlantic City (big tourist area). That would be easier for some of us to get to than a 3,000-mile trip (4,000 if we have to cross the pond) to get to it.

Nice photo, though! (It's the next best thing to being there, I guess.) I see in the photo they've got the base of "The Moment" covered by that cloth. I wonder if that's how it was on set, but we never got to see it on screen. ???

I've got to get out there one of these days. Maybe after May when The Evil One is done with her Master's degree and we don't have to ferry her back and forth over the college breaks.

It's called the "give an actor a prop and watch him damage it" syndrome, Bill! ;D We've seen how Matt Smith (pardon the pun) handled those doors - very roughly at times. And those spots where the handles meet with the mounting flanges don't look all that sturdy, so they probably were easily bent during one of those times (or the bending is an accumulative effect after a full Series' filming).

Dino, I don't believe that its to do with filming, it looks like its actually had the handles replaced and the handles are shaped like that in the first place

I might agree with that, BioDoc, if it wasn't for the fact that the bending isn't uniform. Each handle is bent more at one end than at the other and one would think that if the handles were going to be shaped like that, then both ends would have been made uniformly bent.

That said, if these are replacement handles, it could be possible (could being the operative word) that the replacement handles were slightly off with the holes for the screws. So, rather than drilling new screw holes and risk having the old holes show, whoever worked on the prop and put the replacement handles on just bent the handles to fit the old screw holes.

I wouldn't put that past someone tasked with setting up this prop and finding out that his handles didn't match up with the holes, but I'm less inclined to that scenario. (I'm still leaning towards the abuse factor - whether it was from the actors and filming, or simple prop-handling on or off screen - I think they were bent from abuse rather than having been made so shoddily; and they just happens to be bent in the direction that one would pull on them to bang the doors shut. A bit too much of a coincidence for me. I'll admit if I'm wrong if someone can find definitive proof that these handles were indeed made like that, but until then, I'll stick to my guns, so to speak, on the bending being from abuse of some kind.)

There is also certain areas on this prop where some paint HAS rubbed off. I do think that, because this prop has been there for some time, a lot of people have interacted with that prop, and possibly, over time it got bended, and that the staff haven't bothered to fix it.

Volpone

The handles look like transport damage to me.  I don't know how it gets shipped from place to place, but if the doors were stacked facing down, the other sides shifted against them, or even they got banged against, say, a tailgate while being pulled out of a truck, you would see damage like that.
"My dear Litefoot, I've got a lantern and a pair of waders, and possibly the most fearsome piece of hand artillery in all England. What could possibly go wrong?"

the_prop_maniac

It does look like it doesn't it. We'd have to rule out being banged against on the tailgate, because the handles would be flatter then they were when filming. I don't think they were transported facing down, as for the same reason. So I do think that maybe something collided with the handles from the side.

The handle damage, to me at least, looks almost like a rope was run through the handles and then pulled. Like they pulled the doors up from a horizontal position to a vertical using a rope through the handles and the weight bent them.
