And lastly, for now at least, a picture of how she looks with her shiny new paint job.

Great pics!

Wonderful details on the spare lamp base. Great to see the attachment methods for the bracket and the struts. You can also see signs of a circle where either the lamp fitting nut or the roof attachment conduit scraped on the bracket.

There appears to be some parallax on the ruler vs. the base, though - did you happen to log an actual measurement?

On the mould lines, here are some enhanced photos that might help people see them:

The old paint photo --

You can just make out the line on the right as well.

The new paint pic --

The highlights make both lines much more visible. If Volpone's idea about them being a patch on the mould to cover the attaching screws is correct, however, it would mean that the screws would have been in the centre area instead of along the two sides since on the final moulding the side areas are above the central area, meaning on the mould itself the central area would have stood proud instead (looking at their relative surfaces).

And finally, here is an enhanced version of the pic of the panel below the phone door to better show the patches, plus a duplicate that marks the approximate location of where attachment points would have been for an old-style Police Telephone sign as originally installed on all Mar 1's & Mark 2's, and most Mark 3's, but probably never on a Mark 4 --

There is some major perspective and barrel distortion going on in the photo, but every attempt has been made to account for this as well as the fact that it would seem the Crich type Mark 4's had slightly shorter panels than the Mark 2's & Mark 3's like Barnet.

As you can see, the old type of Phone sign's were much larger than whatever was attached at those patched areas. Perhaps it was a sign similar to the one they had on the http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=3768 just before it was de-commissioned announcing its imminent removal. Then the holes were just patched as part of the refurbishment the Met did at Hendon prior to delivery to the Tramway Museum.

It's interesting that I'd never noticed those patches before, but then for a Box that has been so much photographed, there are a surprising number of areas that haven't really been well represented in the photographic record before these great pics from Mark and Matt Sanders. More than ever it speaks to the need for a good photographic survey of the whole Box in detail, at as high a resolution as possible.

Great stuff, regardless.

Could the patches be anything to do with the fittings inside as they are on the panel the desk draw is attached to.

Mark

Hi Dom, probably not as I'm fairly sure that all the fixing for the desk supports are either side of the outer panels. Certainly that is roughly how wide the desk is.

I have some pictures of the desk fittings as well as the inside of the first aid cubard which I shall have a look at and report back

Interesting. The back window on left side next to the bell has two clear panes on the bottom: center and left. (I guess this was a repair when they couldn't find any pebbled glass.) Also, all the other windows seem to have only the bottom center pane clear when most (not all, but most) boxes had clear panes all across that top row.

I AM interested!
Thanks for posting!

I just love the Crich box in the dark blue livery.

It was one of the inspirations for my own boxes makeover...

This picture is a funny angle as I was up a ladder and leaning the camera out at arms length, the box is not channeling the Tower of Pisa  ;D

Mark,

Looking at this picture you posted above. It seems that there is a slope between the stakes. Is there any info on the slope angle?

Is it the same as the roof ( i.e. approx 15 degrees ).

Are there any other pictures that show the inter-stack slope angle clearly ?
