That's the best shot I've seen.  You can see a smudge of blue paint over the "u" in "use" on the door sign.

Agreed and great pic! It clearly shows that door panel sign was hand painted.

I was having trouble finding much reference whilst trying to build my new roof, it seems reference for this prop is singularly hard to find. Not exceptional quality, but I've taken some screen caps from my DVD of the movie from the "Revisitations" boxest. Just a few more views of the prop from more angles.

Isn't it how ironic that we have to think of solutions out of the box, in order to build our boxes a lot of the time?

Wish we knew what happened to the original.

Rumor was that the Director or Producer had it. But it'd be nice to know for sure. It'd also be nice to know the correct window placements for the sides and back.

lol. This board answers the philosophical paradox of "if a tree falls in the woods...":  If the back of a TARDIS is never seen, is there a "correct" window placement for the prop? ;)  That said, isn't there a good shot of the right side for the gag where the motorcycle cop rides into it?  I know that was a stunt prop, but since that was onscreen, that is the screen accurate window placement for that side.

A while ago I posted pics of the model that was used in the title sequence which I think had all the window placements. Surely the model was designed to match the full size prop in that respect...

Just checked, There is one side shot of the model which is actually the back and it corresponds with the config on the windows from the inside view.

DocEight

So, that's three sides, do we have the missing side?

Interesting... rear windows blacked-out, just like the TARDIS in "The Three Doctors", only here they did a better job of hiding the interior completely, giving it that "bigger on the inside" feel even from the outside. (In "The Three Doctors", you can see the entire inside of the prop, including the blacked-out windows, near the end of Episode 4 just before everyone hurries back inside to say their good-byes to the 1st and 2nd Doctors.)

Looking at page 71 of the Regeneration book they may be like the front but you can only really see 2 frosted panels on the model, if that...

At Visions 1996 in Chicago, Phil Segal, the Producer, did confirm he had the hero prop in his possession.  It's not known if he still has it as he's moved house a couple of times since then and a great deal of the TVM related items Phil had are being caretaken by the guys who have restored the TVM console.

Someone needs to ask him, some time. He has done appearances at cons recently.

Really wish I had that book.

It's still available via Amazon in both hard and soft cover, new and used:
http://www.amazon.com/Doctor-Who-Regeneration-Philip-Segal/dp/0007120257/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1404105849&sr=1-1&keywords=doctor+who+regeneration

It's where I got mine a couple of years ago: used hardcover, and it doesn't look hardly used at all. Just be sure to read the descriptions thoroughly, and check the seller's percentage rating.

It's affordable, but a bit more than I can pay right now.
