Hi, All.
I started with small scale builds, then eventually decided to tackle a full size Dalek.
There's a full build diary at Projectdalek:

And a showcase here:

Hope you like the pics.
I'm now chomping at the bit to start my full size TARDIS!!

Now that is nod nice looking Dalek! It looks really neat, really well finished, and good and sturdy ;D Contrast to mine which was built on/off between two people, on a tight time scale, and has been through the works since!
A very, very nice looking build, A very Doctorish looking Doctor and a nice and interesting back drop :)
Isn't it how ironic that we have to think of solutions out of the box, in order to build our boxes a lot of the time?

Thanks for your kind comments.
It means a lot coming from a builder such as yourself who has created some amazing stuff!
I had fun building him, although it was frustrating at times!
I also had a lot of fun with the backdrop & taking the photos.
I'll be starting a separate thread soon, showcasing my Dr Who scarves & costumes!

All the best,

Russell

Hi all.
Hope you & your builds are well.

I built my grey goon back in 2013/2014. As he was my firstborn so to speak, I promised myself I wouldn't touch him.
However, the urge to tinker is always there, as well you know!

The part I was least happy with was the eye:

1) The brandy glass I used was way too large, which made the blue rings look too small.
2) The blue rings were too thin, so viewed sideways they virtually disappeared.
3) The detail on the front was just painted on which looked to flat & simple for me.
4) The white ring was too large, which I always think gives a Dalek a surprised look. A smaller white ring makes for a meaner looking Dalek.

So I knocked up another eye, which I'm much happier with.
Here are some photos, old eye first, then new eye:

I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I think he looks much better with his new eye!

Anyway, now I've started I'll probably have a crack at the neck rings next, then he needs spraying in a darker, metallic grey-
I have become a fully fledged tinkerer!

Anyway, thanks for looking,

All the best,

Russell

Loving the new eye Russell!!

I've said this before (and it may have been somewhere on your black Dalek build diary) but I'll say it again; I'm so jealous of anyone who has the space for a full-size Dalek, let alone two!! :o :o

This style of Dalek is definitely my favourite, and builds like this just show off what a magnificent design it is.

Looking forward to seeing the next modifications you have in store (just beware, once you get that tinkerer's bug, there's no stopping it! :D)
"Would you like a jelly baby?"

Well, I'm jealous of your console so I guess that makes us even!
Thanks for your kind words.
Yes, I've deffo caught the tinkering bug, but as the old saying goes-
"What's the point of having a Dalek if you can't tinker with it?!"

That looks perfect, Russell!

Thanks, Steve,
You are too kind!
I think my building skills definitely lend themselves more to the old-school battered BBC props that the new fangled ones!
