A new article has been posted with a list of the original locations of the Glasgow police boxes:

http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=4481.0

Because you can't reply to an article, as usual this is a companion discussion topic.

Many thanks to Mike Knight for the original research and consent to publish it, and to Crispin for the initial formatting.

Glasgow List and Database updated with full Station Names instead of just simple Station Codes from data provided by Mike Knight. Entries show the station or stations to which each Box or Post was actually connected via telephone.

Updated Glasgow Database with full dates in the form DD-MMM-YYYY.

Excellent Comprehensive Glasgow List banzai...well done!
Will we be able to add Photos (like the Met List) ?

List and Database have been here for awhile. This was just a refinement to show anyone interested exactly to which Station a Box or Post was attached and reported to. For Glasgow, in some cases this was more than one Station. Again, many thanks to Mike Knight.

The Glasgow List was made into a Database here:  http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?%61ction=metboxlist;city=Glasgow

With accompanying Glasgow Catalog here: http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=148.0

Adding Topics to the Glasgow Catalog and tying it to the Glasgow Database makes the Topic's thumbnail photo show up in the Database in the leftmost column, which also serves as a link back to the Topic, as before.

The Glasgow List itself (http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=4481.0 ) is just a stand-alone Document/Article for general reference, and as such it is text only and can only be commented upon here.

All this is precisely the same as with the Met List Article (in this same Police Box History sub-forum) and it's resulting separate Metbox Database & Catalog.

Actually, you made me realize that I never posted a link to the Database and Catalog here when they were set up, so thank you.

Hello all. I'm going to be visiting Glasgow this weekend, and I'd love to go and take a photo or two of a police box while I'm there. Can anybody please recommend what the best ones to go and have a look at might be? Many thanks!

Your best bets would be:

Corner of Buchanan Street & Gordon Street (Although this box has often been repurposed as a small business, including a micro-coffee shop, so it may be adorned with hoardings related to whoever may be renting it.
Wilson Street (Renovated in 2010, though also appears to have been used as a micro-coffee shop at some point).
Junction of Great Western Road & Byres Road (Outside the Botanic Gardens - has been used as a micro-shop in the past).
Junction of Cathedral Street and High Street (Has been used as a micro-shop in the past).
Junction of Sauchiehall Street and Renfield Street (Appears to still have its original red livery compared to most other Glasgow boxes.  Like most of the others it has been used as a micro-shop).
London Road, near the Barrowland park (Doesn't appear to have been used as a commercial operation, and although it has been painted blue, it has a lot of the signage that has been removed from other Glasgow boxes).

Here's a map:

Thank you! I had been on the "Discover Glasgow" site and they only listed four of them, not the Sauchiehall Street or Barrowlands ones. My hotel is very near Sauchiehall Street an the gigs I am going to this weekend are at Barrowlands, so I can easily add those other two to my list - thank you!

I went and found the other four today... Here are some photos of what they're looking like at the moment, if anybody's interested!

Botanic Gardens:

Buchanan Street:

Wilson Street (fitting, I thought, that there's one on a street which shares its name with one of the creators of Doctor Who, in the very city where he studied and worked)
