I have to say, that is one very sad and decrepit looking TARDIS.  :(

The Blue Peter clip is an extra on the "Day of the Daleks" dvd and is probably autumn 1971. Later in the same clip you get three daleks in their Day of the Daleks livery. Mention is made that the daleks haven't been seen on Who for years, so it acts as a little teaser for Day.
You also get a sweet little view of Shep (famous Blue Peter dog) as a puppy before the closing titles!

Sad, isn't it? It's my favourite TARDIS exterior, but it really had seen better days by the time the 70's came round.

For all the knocks and repairs the old girl received over the years of service it must have been more cost effective to build an other one rather than wait for it to fall on Lis Sladen before replacing it...

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've decided to go with Venetian Crystal 2 with filth washes, its close enough to those colour photos from The Yeti story, well close enough for me anyway :) I'll do more tests but I could end up going through the entire range and not finding anything I'm truly happy with and not painting the model at all :D

I think this is the pic you were thinking of galacticprobe. It is a part of the 20 year special Magazine available as a pdf on the Enlightenment DVD extras.

HA! Yes! That is exactly the photo I was talking about! (And I've still got that 20-year Special Magazine... well, most of it. The front and back covers have come off and are adrift amongst the bookshelves, while the rest of the tattered mag is with the rest of those 'Who' documentary books on another shelf. Bought it back when it first came out and I wish it was in better shape, but between the wife and I, we sort of loved it to near-death!)

I've seen that same photo in other places as well and I just couldn't remember any of them. But Bill's is the first time I've seen one from the BBC site. (Bet you can guess where that nice photo is going. What's that, you say? Into my 2nd Doctor folder? Why, yes; yes it is.)

But you can see what I meant about the TARDIS' color: pretty close to how she appeared on 'Blue Peter'. In the photo that Bill posted her color is almost uniform, so maybe if you printed that out and took just a clipping of the TARDIS to a paint store, they could try a computer-matching of the color. Then you'd have a good base coat to apply to your build. You could always "splotch" the Old Girl up later on. Just remember, if you're building this version and not using the white Phone Panel door - going for the frameless Phone Panel - the background was the same color as the TARDIS until the start of Pertwee's final season, when the background turned dark charcoal grey (almost black when seen on screen). In both cases, though, the lettering and wording on the panel were identical.

Slightly off-topic, but is Patrick giving an autograph to the Yeti actor?
I'm called Stormaggeddon, Dark Lord of all... Or you can call me Warped in Storage.

<SMACK! on the forehead>

Sorry, Tony! Only an idiot like me could forget the great research you put into that article! :-[

(Maybe I should change my signature line to something more along the lines of:

-from "Kinda"
Panna: "What's he babbling about? ... Is he an idiot?"
Karuna: "Are you an idiot?"
5th Doctor: "Well, I suppose I must be. I have been called one many..."
)

Most of those would need some colour correction. Check the difference between the first two from Snowmen. I believe the 2nd one is most accurate.

For good colour refs from Spearhead, the blurray is awesome :)

Well, for the above image I tried this:

jon4.jpg
Not really a super color-correction, but before Jon looked a little "orange" in the face, the TARDIS looked a bit green, and the sky looked somewhat on the "teal" side. So, I went by Jon's skin tone (and having met him in person a couple of times helped), and the sky for color, and tweaked out the image you see here.

Blue sky, normal skin-tone Jon, and a TARDIS that looks like she's just come through a fortress wall and barrelled over a few Daleks trying to invade Gallifrey during a Time War or something. ;) Seriously, she looks more like the War Doctor's TARDIS color-wise in this image, but after all, she is just coming out of the B&W filming era. (Have you ever seen the Season 1 color publicity photos of the cast from the 1960s 'Lost In Space' TV series? Those photos have everyone looking bright and all of the sets colorful - except for the Robot; he's monotone silver and grey - no red claws, no color on his head's "ears", no color to the large or square lights on his chest; only the little lights at the bottom of his chest have some color because of the colored lenses over the light fixtures. He's just, well, blah.)

In this photo that poor Old Girl - whether color-correct or not - just looks monotone and, well, blah, and I'm guessing it's because for the past six seasons she'd been filmed in B&W, and whatever color the props people painted her was insignificant, so long as it "looked" like it should be blue on a B&W film/TV screen. It could also be why at times the Old Girl looked a bit too blue once the full-on color filming started and color TVs became more affordable and commonplace in the home; Jon Pertwee's first season was a mix of color and B&W, so his second season made sure the TARDIS looked more blue, and then by the time of "The Three Doctors" she was a really light blue. All speculation on my part, but then when I look back at some of the images from the Troughton era farther back in this thread, the Old Girl seems to flip-flop between being really blue, and this sort of washed-out blue-grey/slate blue.

I guess I have to re-read Tony's great thread on http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=4489.0 to refresh my memory on the color scheme... which always needs a little help now and then. (My memory, that is.)
