BRILLIANT! Some great detective work there Tony! All your theories seem to make sense and the height difference of the refit sides explains why the interior doors might indeed be taller than previously thought, lending argument to re-looking at the dreaded roundel diameters! One thing though, I think the corner posts front and back were the existing 4.5" width, but the re-made thinner side posts are only 4" wide.

Yet another great close-up - cheers Jonathan, I'll amend my drawing of the altered Brachaki Police Box. (I must admit I'm struggling to find photos of the rear doors of the Police Box prop, so any help here would be gratefully received). Thanks also to Marc for trying to find photos of the broken lamp. I guess evidence like this is akin to hunting for the missing episodes - something will eventually turn up!  :)

Oh, I've done my sums on the roundels based on adding 1.75" to the height of the lowest of the three-tiered stepped section on the side panels (see profile B - B on my drawing of the Pertwee Police Box). Taking into account a ratio of 0.075 to 0.078 (from photos of the ratio of the diameter of the roundels to the gaps between them) and allowing for the wainscoting/casters, a roundel diameter of 25" with a spacing of two inches will now work. Separate topic I know but I'll post this here, just so people can see what we mean (the relevant threads are: http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=3709.msg43909#msg43909 and http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=1035.msg43819#msg43819

Not meaning to stray off-topic too far, but looking at the base of the Master's console's time rotor... With those "ridges" running along its sides, and its outward flare as it goes down, does anyone else think this is an upturned, standard office-type dust bin that's been painted silver? (It's even got that "rolled edge" to hold its bottom in - though being upturned now it's the top, and has a stack of various-sized spools/pulley wheels(?) on top of it.)

OK, a few relevant grabs:
First one is from 'Spearhead' showing the rear doors and the original base. You can make out the wooden dowel door knobs on each door

And from the left side showing the original base...

Later in the UNIT lab on the temporary base...

Finally from 'Seeds Of Doom' - right side and rear doors...

Wait until this puppy comes out in Blue Ray later this year.  We'll have excellent reference material hopefully.

Another hole in the lamp or the roof on a different way round?

Not too sure about the lamp being turned as it was mounted, although it is entirely possible when you consider how they used to throw this poor girl together on locations. However, after taking another look at the "Seeds Of Doom" photo above I noticed what appears to be a 3-screw hinge connecting the lamp's cylinder with its cap:
SeedsOfDoom-LampHinge.jpg

Is it just my eyes? Or is that actually a hinge? (And is there an access below the hinge as there also appears to be seam lines? Those lines are far too straight to be cracks so they must be seams of some sort?)

Just a little advice if anyone could help?

I'm currently building a 1/6th scale model of this style of TARDIS and I have come to the painting stage. I want to get a decent flat blue down first before I start weathering it, any suggestions on what is out there? I had a look around today and there are very little 'Off the shelf' tester pots' of colours that I am happy with. I looked at a Dulux sapphire salute and a Breton Blue today and I wasn't really happy with neither.

Any advice would be great as I want to avoid mixing colours at this stage because the model is quite large.

You want something that is a midnight blue.  Very dark and not to bright on the blue hue.

So Start with a dark blue and add brighter highlights? I'm not sure Dulux have anything that matches a Midnight blue. I've ran a few tests with the Sapphire salute, but that just looks to dark to me

Hopefully these will help. I found a few color publicity photos (courtesy of the BBC web site - and you really have to dig for them!). They're from the Patrick Troughton story "The Yeti":

Different angles, and lighting, but you can see some of the same shades of blue on this version of the TARDIS. So maybe you could try having your paint store do that magic Computer Color Matching on what looks like the "main" (or "base") color, and then start from there. Then, of course, you could always go for this look:
BrachackiAltered03.jpg
"The Three Doctors" almost deep sky blue color - if you wanted to go a little differently than the darker TARDIS colors.

Here's a shot from Blue Peter showing the Troughton/ Pertwee colour scheme under studio lighting
I'll have to check with the DVD later to see what year it was from (around 1970/71 by the look of it)

That's a great photo! There is another color publicity photo from "The Yeti" that shows Troughton holding a script, standing next to a yeti, with the TARDIS in the background (wish I could find that one again - I'd have posted it!), but that one shows the TARDIS color to be much like it is in that Blue Peter photo. (A few less of the light speckles on her, maybe, but the main color is about the same.)
