Hello,
I recently just (pretty much 99%) completed my TARDIS build. I have had great response to it.
I made this TARDIS portable and it disassembles into 17 pieces for transportation. Takes about 15 minutes to assemble.
I will be taking it around town to photograph at local landmarks more for my own satisfaction.

I like that you built her to be disassembled. I originally built mine to be that, i wish i hadnt as i could have constructed better walls. The decision to place mine outdoors ended the portable aspect.

Please make sure yours doesnt experience winter or rain as every gap will leak horribly.

True, Bill; but at least evil bob's isn't blocking the pavement! (Though, she looks so good, she should be!)

I love the placement of this TARDIS in those last few photos; she makes people take notice of her, like a proud lady saying "Look at what I've grown into!"

Did a practice run taking the build out. setting up, and taking down and bringing home.
The day started out great but out of nowhere a huge wind storm picked up.
This build is NOT meant to be put outside on a windy day.
Nearly toppled over during the assembly.
Lesson learned-watch weather report first.

This quick shoot was done at our local Police station (with kindest permission thank you).

My back yard? That's a great-looking TARDIS! On the issue of wind - which I've dealt with setting up living history tents at an oceanfront museum (it used to be a US Life Saving Station, then a Coast Guard Lifeboat Station). Since our tent poles were wooden 2 x 2s, we screwed eye-bolts about 2 feet up from the bottom, and then used some clothes line and tied weights normally used with barbells to the poles (making sure the weights didn't touch the ground). This would keep the tents in place in the wind, and we would add extra weights if the wind picked up.

Great build! Love the idea with placing it on diffrent locations for photosessions. Like that house with the roof complex. Tardis looks so good in front of it! Funny with the police building in the background. How did they respond seeing the "Police public call box"?

If you mean the weights, then yes. The weights we used on the tent poles were inside the canvass (these tents had walls: 6-foot straight walls with a pitched roof peaking at 8 feet in the center). Think of a 10'L x 8'W x 8'H shed made of canvass and some wooden poles at the corners, and one center front and center rear to support the ridge pole for the roof.

Since this was a US Civil War era tent we had to keep the 21st Century weights out of sight. Even though the tent was staked into the ground - which in the 1860s was how it was done - we still needed to add the weights to keep the thing in place. (I can only imagine what those Civil War guys went through trying to keep their tents in place in high winds!)

The second is taken at the Pop Culture Fair in Edmonton. Went over really well with a couple fans dressed up as the Doctor. They went nuts when they saw it and wanted pics with it. Happy to oblige.

I agree with you - one of the nicest things about prop building is being able to share these things especially with children (of all ages). Though, I do know - to my cost - that Dalek appendages need to be protected from not-so-small hands!

I suspect your Police Box is the talking point of the neighbourhood and a lot of passers-by do a 'double-take' on seeing it!

Been awhile since last posted.

Recently, I made a base for inside my build so you can stand properly. Give the build a more TARDIS-y feel.

I have lent it out to various people over the year. Reaction is always one of surprise when people actually register what it is they are looking at.

Recently, some awesome fan-girls ask to do some photos using Doctor Who themed costumes. It was absolutely fantastic. I do not have facebook so I am posting a couple of pics they took.

First night time shoot I have set up- The photographer was also a fan-again-fantastic.

Warm Edmonton (Canada) night with no mosquitos-you would understand if you lived here what that meant-lol
