I read the Sparrowness thing but there weren't very many specifics.  I need to know what can be done with which pieces.  What should be made to fold, how to hold everything together securely when it is assembled,  etc.  I want to make the 2005 plan but it needs to break down into something easy to move.

Perfect, thanks for the picture, a picture is worth a thousand words.   I also need these to fold in half what's the best way to do that with this design?

I'm planning to scrounge for most of my wood.  Lucky the area I live in has houses going up left and right so hopefully one of them will have what I need.  Ply wood is the easiest thing to find, I'm not sure about the planks needed for the corners, those are a bit less common.

I'm also doing things differently than she did because of what I have to work with so I'm not sure if I can use what she did.  I will be using that general idea though.

Do you think that would work going the other direction, that would make one long board but could it be folded to make one fat one?
I'm also not sure if I will be able to get those planks, is there something else that might work in place of those?

About how long can I expect this to take?  How fast would I have to go to get it done by Nov.  23? (As a random date having no significance whatsoever)  

How much free time do you have?  That's the biggest factor.  Some people can get it done in 2-4 weeks, others months or even (in a couple of cases) years.

The planks i use were only like 2.04 for an 8 foot length at Menards, but any 1 by 4 could conceivably work. Mine are beveled on the other side, also.

Bill is right. I have been on mine for 2 months, and I get about 3-4 hours free time every evening for working on it. Lol November 23rd is my target date as well.

I'd say you could do it for under $100 but it depends on what you want as an end result. Making it " collapsible" can cost less because you'd use lighter materials. (Mine hasn't run too costly but that's because it's mainly for my daughter to play in so I approached it as a stage prop)
Using a form of cardboard hardboard or thin plywood is a way also to save if you want it to look the part and not be as functional for constant in and out.
Ask yourself what you want it for and figuring out how comes from that.

Bill has the right idea. If you're using the same principles (or even some of those) sillysparrowness used, you should take those 17 minutes and watch her video. It does show how she connects her components together, how she makes it fold, and then stay supported when unfolded, also how to avoid some of the mistakes she shows you she'd made... And on top of that it's a very fun instructional video. You'll be surprised at just how fast that 17 minutes flies by.
