The Box on the northwest corner of Cathedral Square - A37

This is one of the Glasgow Boxes that has been restored and is still on the streets of Glasgow.

Here's how it looked in July of 1976 --



This is how it looks now, after having been restored and moved to the other side of the footpath --



The spire with scaffolding in the background is Glasgow Cathedral with the buildings now in front of it bordering the Square of fairly recent vintage despite their appearance, as shown by the 1976 photo.

Per OS Maps (confirmed by the 1976 photo) the Box's original location was just behind the Cathedral Square sign.

Just goes to show that they care about their boxes in Glasgow.....

Who actually maintains the Glasgow Boxes and do we know how many actually still exist in their locations?
It's a pity they didn't have the foresight in London back in the late 1960's! 

Glad to see that the lamp has at long last been returned to the roof of the box. It's been without the lamp for decades.

I had the pleasure to order coffee from this box on Wednesday morning    I'm pleased to report that this box is in excellent condition and obviously well looked after! Out of all the seven Glasgow boxes left, this was the one in best condition.
