This is from the easter egg on The Keys Of Marinus DVD. It's not perfect due to the lighting, but
it's definitely green :)

In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.

To me it could go either way as its in semidarkness. A hi res of that with the brightness boosted would help.

In regards to resolution... It was recorded on 16mm, that's likely as good as it gets. It's a direct screengrab from the DVD.

And with some lightening up and some minor color corrections, we get this:

Looks green.

Hey Guys, I haven't read the whole thread, but I was wondering as an idea. The Console and walls were painted the limey green so that they would come up as a brilliant white in the black and white episodes. Maybe you could get a few tester pots of the different light green, paint them on some wood, and then take some pictures with the black and white filter on and see which comes up close to that of the original

Hope this helps

It's not just the "Black and White"ness of the images, it's the way the old 405line cameras captured the images.

So, unfortunately, simply making a B/W pic now won't do the same thing.

I used to develop B&W film in a darkroom. The light bulbs we used in there were red. So, for many years I'd simulate the look of a B&W photo, in photoshop, by extracting the red channel. Actually made a thread about that back in the old WHO3D group, years ago.

With that in mind, If you take a known color tv image of the police box, (such as a framegrab of it from the opening moments of Spearhead) and compare it to a known B&W tv image of the same prop (say, from the last episode of War Games) it looks to me like the green channel is an exact match for the tonal qualities of the B&W video.

If B&W video is reading the green ranges of the spectrum, It would make sort of sense to use green paint to make something look white on B&W video.

I remember that post Cobalt! I still use the red channel trick once in awhile. I tend to use Photoshop's new B&W converter option more now.

Not that this proves anything but, just for interest here is one of Marc's brilliant renders from more or less the same angle as the studio shot (Marc has used Silvan Green (TX40?)):

And the same with the colour 'killed':

At long last I've been given permission to post this photo from the set of An Adventure in Space and Time. But I've only been given this permission in order to be able to show you the colours that the designers of the recreated Brachaki Tardis Control Room have used. I'd therefore ask that that we confine ourselves to that understanding. Thank you for understanding.
I've cropped the image to avoid spoilers. It clearly shows that the Tardis' 3D walls are green and that the roundels' moulded backings are white.
The recreated set has obviously been slightly altered to cater for a 2013 TV audience - the chief difference (which, sadly, I can't show you) is that the photo blow-up walls have been reduced to a single panel (located behind the computer tower/lighting column and an eight columned 3D roundel wall has been created in the place of the other two photographic panels.
Many, many thanks to Tom!

A bit lost for words to describe my feelings on seeing this. Brilliant! Thank you!

DoctorWho8

Can I post a color corrected version of this photo, Tony?  It's brightened up and normalized the whites and black, letting the color show up better.

No worries!  Apologies for the poor quality though.  In part-mitigation, I should explain this is a heavily zoomed-in shot, taken from a darkened part of another set and I was focusing as much on something in the foreground (cropped out here to neutralise spoilers) as I was on the TARDIS set.*

As Tony has indicated, the pic's here to help with the whole colour discussion thing, so I'm politely requesting that it stays among us TARDIS geeks for the moment.

*Nothing to do with my hands shaking with excitement. No, not at all.  ;)
