Hi Everyone!

Yes, I'm kinda here, but then gone again!  Thats a career in teaching for you...

I have been working on the console over the past week or two - particularly on some sections that needed a little adjustment.  I'm hoping to have some pics up very soon, so stay tuned!

Sorry for my repeated absence, though life is particularly tricky to manage at the moment!

I took the rotor apart and here's what it's made of...





This one has an alarming resemlance to my wedding cake...

...Here's a few of the frame.  Hope you can see the detail, I think I may have caused some confusion over how I did this...









Here's how my sliding table system works for the rotor... It is very stable. No wobble!!!

Wow, that looks great! Never seen a time column motor mechanism up close before. And your actual Time Column is VERY impressive!

Just out of curiosity, why did you go for blue instead of red?

Hey Marc!

The only reason why I went for blue is because it was the only colour lighting gel that I had.  I bought some many years ago for something else, and didn't want to waste it!  I recon it looks kinda cool, so I'll probably stick with blue instead of red.

I would just like to add, what you have done is fantastic, I  have been watching the build up of this over the last few month and have been a lurker for sometime too, and am eagerly waiting for the continuation of the build.  Well done, I only wish I had the inspiration to buildd my own.

I was lucky enough to visit Jarrod about 18 months ago and saw his build in the flesh - it was wonderful!  Not only has he engineered the perfect smooth and quiet central column but it is controlled by computer (complete with sound effects), has variable speed and the lights are spot on.  I'm still in awe and as you've continued to build the panels and no doubt tweak the rest as well I can only imagine how great it is by now.

My own will be a different (recent) style but yours is an inspiration for quality workmanship.

Thank you all very much guys!  It is really inspiring to read your kind comments.  I'm sure you agree, that what ever you choose to build, it will bring with it a similar passion to the one I have, as well as a keen desire to keep the spirit of the series alive.

If you're thinking about building something and aren't sure whether to do it or not, just DO IT!!  Don't worry about making a blunder, cause it'll still look cool anyway.  I've seen many different interpretations of consoles, police boxes, and so on, and you just can't criticise, but rather appreciate the amount of workmanship and skill that's involved in getting the thing together.

I couldn't have done my project without this forum, and I appreciate the contributions everyone has made to it!

That is absolutely beautiful and the movement of the column is so smooth, Looks great as always. Can't wait to see more updates.
