Hammered Cathedral Glass ... hmmmm it does look like a good placeholder, and the company is from California, so shipping shouldn't be too dear. Yeah I may just have to have proxy windows for the now.

As always it is quite fun to look through the photos in your build diary.  Quite a lovely little lady you have there Crispin.

This may be a silly question, but at least with models, couldn't you use opalescent nail polish on the back side of the window? Because of its chemical makeup, it becomes sticky fairly quickly, allowing  you to create texture as well.

Found some pebbled glass when clearing the garage. Several panes, still in their frames, ~20x25cm

Is this something that anybody is looking for to complete a project?

I am very interested in obtaining some Pebbled Glass. Even a small amount would give me the ability to make a mold and reproduce the pattern.

I found this company online and asked them for a quote for 16 of their spectrum hammered glass.
The glass is 3mm thick and for the sizes I need they've quoted me £17.90 plus  £8.90 post.

I don't think this is too bad price-wise and the glass, to my eye anyway, is quite a good match:

Hammered is quite nice and actually accurate to the Hudolin prop.
I was able to get hammered plexiglass from a local glass supplier when I was working on mine.

Looking at TimeGirl's update, I wound up doing a search on "hammered glass," to make sure I was using the proper term.  This came up--which looks a lot more like pebbled glass than hammered glass.  And the price isn't out of line if you're going for a 100% accurate police box (especially if you live in Ohio):  http://www.franklinartglass.com/shop/item.aspx/wissmach-clear-hammered-glass-01ham-16-x21/640/

You know, I really wish someone out there would make sheets of this in plastic/perspex/plexiglass, etc. instead of real glass. It would be so much easier to handle and cut with less worry and risk of breakage! (And it might even be less expensive as well.)

I've actually found it easier to cut real glass than plexi.  I mean, for very, very lightweight stuff like on poster frames, you can cut it easily enough, but the weight you'd put in an actual window, glass cuts easier with less expensive tools. 

That said, if I can ever find a big cheap bag of clear plastic beads, I'm absolutely stick them on a cookie sheet in my oven and see if I can bake myself some pebbled plastic.
