Thanks Mark. There are a lot of props from the series I want. And I'm still learning how to make this stuff. I'll definitely add bangles to my search.
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

I know this probably doesn't help much since Colin Baker is wearing gloves while he's holding the prop, and the close-up of the new S-T Element being built doesn't have any "straight-on" angles to go by, but the "average" length of (at least a guy's) index finger from tip to first joint is about 1 inch. I've seen quite a few guys I've worked with use that as a rough ruler when a regular ruler wasn't at hand (bad pun, I know), and they came out almost right on the money with their guesstimeasurements. (And yes; I've just invented a new word.)

Judging from the position of Maxil's middle Finger I suspect that the boxes are probably 2" X 2" X 3" and the tube is probably 1" thick, The Rods that connect the boxes to the tube are probably 1" long. The gap between the two boxes is probably also 2".

Looks fantastic, Nate! I'd say those measurements are pretty darned close. Are you allowing a little "fudge factor" for the center portion in case those five rings that make up the Recall Circuit coil don't come out to exactly 2 inches when put together like that? I mean, if they end up being a little long there is always some fine sanding to reduce their thickness to get their total width down to 2 inches. But if they fall shorter than 2 inches would you be fitting thin spacers on the two ends where the "coil" meets the boxes, or shortening the total length proportionately to make up the difference?

I'm always ready to redo things if it doesn't work out. ;)

I don't have any screen grabs, but for reference and episodes this little thing appeared in I wanted to add "The Two Doctors" to the list. We were watching that story and this Space-Time Element appeared on the removable control panel for Dastari's (and those Sontarans') time machine. The views you get of it aren't all that clear as far as the top fluid tube goes, but those end boxes and that "recall circuit" mid section are instantly recognizable.

So that's three stories this S-TE was used in: "Arc of Infinity", "Terminus" (5th Doctor) and "The Two Doctors" (6th Doctor, with guest - and final appearance on screen - from the 2nd Doctor).

Thanks, Nate! You can get another good look at the thing when Dastari is holding the controller and standing off to the side while Peri is forced to take a "test run" in the time capsule. That's how I actually noticed it; the "recall circuit" part really stands out.

I was wondering about the rings in the middle of the device. Are they plastic shower rings with metal rings, or straight flat acrylic rings with two metal rings?

Witch looks the closer plastc ring?

These two would work but only if you want the recall circuit as part of your main Space-time Element. 8)

Shower rings usually vary from 1" diameter to 1.5"

to my memory...

That would be a little small I would think.

If I were to guess what those two tinted boxes are, I'd say that they might be octal relays. Given that they are slightly tinted, translucent, and appear to have electrical elements inside. One of the most common appearances of an octal relay on any sort of sci-fi prop, is the one seen on the foot pedal of the Ghost Trap from "Ghostbusters".

Those tinted boxes reminded me of ballbearing puzzles that were around at the time. I think you can still get them, probably not identical, unless you try ebay. Found this fuzzy image online.
