$347 a gallon? Eeyouch! I would suggest just getting a small bottle of "touch-up paint" in that color. It should only cost a few dollars. Paint it onto a piece of scrap wood, possibly thinning it to get the right look you need. Then take that piece of wood to a paint or home improvement store and ask them to color-match it for you. That will cost far less that that extortionate price (probably from the dealer).

Color-matching is done very easily these days so the paint/home improvement store would be something to check out. Also, they could probably thin it for a spray gun if you asked them, and it would still be far less than $300 even of you got more than one gallon.

Eerr... not to be funny or nothin'... but I went past this in a taxi and, well... that TARDIS is a different colour!
It's slightly noticable in the pictures, but it was definatly more so in real life, I only went by the filming in passing and saw it from a distance but it immediatly stuck out to me how much more flat the colour looked and how it hid the woodgrain so much more. The paint, if it is new, already looks rough around the edges and slightly worn. If my test with the Subaru paint last year is anything to go by I found that it didn't mark that easily as it soaked into the wood much more, almost like a stain, so that would support my theory it seems.
Anyways, take a look at the pictures and tell me what you think WARNING, there are some small spoilers, but really nothing majorly spoiler-ish and not much that hasn't already been shown in other photos.

Haha, in all seriousness I think we've been pretty lucky here - this paint doesn't seem too unusual and has a similar finish to a normal emulsion paint. Right off the bat I can throw out there that Dulux's "Wild Water 1" painted over a white primer would give you a very similar colour and hide a lot of the wood grain in the same way.

I think the side shot with Matt behind the prop is probably what the color really looks like.  The ones from the front look too light.

And I have also think it looks much better when not lit up! Looked lovely in "The doctors Wife".
But i dont mind just the signs lit, like in the 96 movie.

Is that Signbox damage at the top there?

On the 2005-2009 boxes, the step under signboxes was one piece.  When we've been analyzing shots of the same area for the 2010 props, we always had a hard time making out the detail under the sign boxes.  In some shots it looked like one piece, in others it looked like two.  These recent pictures confirm the prop has had 2 small steps under the signboxes.

HOWEVER, Evil Bob pointed out to me off-board that the lamp is that of the promotional prop, not of the normal hero prop.  Since they filmed in London, it's easy to assume that they got the promotional prop out from storage, repainted it, replaced the signs and windows so it would look more like the hero prop back in Cardiff.

So now, we're going to have to keep an eye on the different lamps to see which prop is being used, because they may have used two different ones in the story they are filming now for all we know.

I think its just one peice with the step routed in, just like the previous boxes...however much more severe on this one.

It's definitely two now. Look on the top of the wall on the right in these pics.

I am not sure we are looking at the same part then?

If we are looking at the upper door jamb immediately under the sign then its just a harsher routed step with direct light making it seem deeper... I see no evidence of it being two separate parts at all...

Here is a promo box, similar angle but you can see the same thing I think you are seeing.

If we are discussing the trim around the inside of the door frame, certainly the one that resides in the Experience in Cardiff has concave bevelled edges, which give the impression of a step in photographs due to the unusual reflective characteristics of the metallic paint. It's tricky to see in this picture I took (the low light made it hard to get a clean shot) so I've highlighted the shape of the chamfer.

Also in the above photo it looks like the bevel on the door stiles doesn't go all the way to the door panel. It looks like only the very edge of the stiles are bevelled, and only slightly at that.

Yup on both counts...been that way since 2005 actually. Not much of the current boxes have changed all THAT much, just construction techniques more than actual details.
