A trick of light that appears to show an opening side door?

And is that damage to the side sign box still evident from Dalek Invasion, although it was the front in that one?

That was the front sign that was damaged.  This was new damage.  Also notice the lamp rods are missing in the back.

It may well be a trick of the light. If you look at the shadow cast by that front corner post you can see that the light source is almost directly on the front of the TARDIS, so those are some harsh shadows cast by those posts and dividers. Here's a very lightened copy of one of the photos:

If you look directly in front of the Brig's nose you can see that the "right" side of that wall panel is even with the "left" side (on the other side of the divider). Even the top stile is right up against the bottom of the three steps below the top sign (as is the stile on the other side of the divider) showing that the panel isn't open. So that isn't a side door, but as you guess, a trick of the lighting.
