I dont know if this ever have been posted here. If so you are welcome to delete this post. If not I thought of sharing as someone might find it useful

In order to choose the right colour for my Tardis I wanted to find a photo with each Doctor with their Tardis. Just to summarise a difference in colourshape.
Of course its not fully accurate as how the colour appear depends a lot of both weather conditions, light conditions and conditions for the cameraman. The below photo is a photo of photos on a table. the indoor light put a yellow shape on them

You also wouldnt know if a photo is edited in hue and saturation and brightness and so on before being published.
However I collected these photos to later on be able to collect the colour of each Tardis

AllDocsWithTardis.jpg

Out of this I made this colourpalette cutting out a piece from each Tardis from above photos. In my original photoshop file for this I can adjust the colours for each individual Tardis to test out the blue colour scale. By this I can also find the colour I want for my Tardis. I dont mind sharing this file but dont know how and if there would be apropiate to bring on download links...

Next step is to bring this colour analyze to a Paint retailer and point out which one you want and show what to compare it with.
Depending on if your Tardis will be indoors or outdoors the retailer can provide you the colour for your Tardis

At least thats the idea for me....

Here is the original photos used to place them together. Starting with Doctor one and forward:

2nd dr pic is from 3 doctors so it is mid pertwee

DoctorWho8

Yeah, technically 2 and three should switch.  In 2's pic, the prop was repainted a lighter blue mid-way through Pertwee's run.  In 3's pic, the TARDIS looked more that color in Troughton's time.  I'll do up a swatch to help get idealized colors.

okay thanks for the input. It was very difficult to find any photos at all with Doctor 2 and 3 and if I found any they was in poor condition. You guys are very welcomed to provide better images for them that show their tardis the best  :)

Some of the photos you used aren't always color corrected.  I used the average blur in photoshop to help get a solid shade out of the different tones.  I have them labeled by year so it's easier to figure out the color since all the props have been painted in different shades of blue.  I left off McCoy because they were alternating between two props and both had slightly different colors.  See how these look.

wow thats really cool, Bill "the Doctor" Rudloff!  :) Thanks a lot for taking your time to line out those very clear colours.
The colour for 1972, 1978 and 2007 looks crazy though to imagine as realistic on a full scale Tardis. Too light and the last too grey I assume :P

Now its way easier to compare with a retailers colourscale!

Also thanks to Domvar for updating the second and third doctors Tardises. Much appreciated. Im getting closer to find the colour for my Tardis!

Thankyou for sharing the pics and info, excellent reference material.
I may be straying off topic, but is that a flashing blue Police light on Toms box?  I though the blue light was a myth?

Update with 2nd and 3rd Doctors Tardis based on new added photos above

and with shadows and levels cut out lookin closer like a colour scale. Some have been made brighter or darker in photoshop to fit the general apprearance of them all together

Still havent found the colour for my Tardis  ::)

It appears that printing out the computermade colourscale based on the Tardises ends up just as weird as it do when I scanned in the colourstrips I got from a paint retailer...

um...  :-X

Would RGB or CMYK values help?  Or maybe Pantone Matching System colors for commercial printing?

Have an android phone?

Sherwin Williams Color Snap handy paint color matching app, especially with Bill's palette. Should be able to match something up
