I 've found a 3 inch mirror to use in my time column and some clear plastic stickers that might work as television screens.

why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

still this week hasn't been wasted - I've started to learn how best to cut this portion of the project - well, beginning too at any rate.

I think the saints don't have anything on you when it comes to patience! You've got some seriously steady nerves, and hands, not to mention keen eyes. Working on such a small scale for this console is incredible. A true Feat!

Looks fantastic, Warm!
How did you decide on 1/7th as the scale?

warmcanofcoke

Thank you for the comments, they help me to keep going.

I decided on the 1/7th scale because I had a transparent tube that was 3 inches in diameter. The Tube had started to yellow(only to the point that a perfectionist cares about.) with age and wasn't as large as it needed to be to be at the center of a Tom Baker style Time Rotor. (Its original purpose.) It was extremely close to 1/7th scale (3.2 in). I know that when you are building a model, minor discrepancies seem to disappear when you look at the object as a whole so I started building a 1/7th Console to figure out some of the problem I will encounter when I build a full scale one. This is why the base is separate from the middle and the top will be separate from that. I will be able to look inside the model and figure out what I need to do to support the full scale prop. It has been an interesting process.

The main problem with Doctor Who is that there are so many really nice consoles to choose from. Staying focused on just one is a little bit of a problem sometimes.  ;) :P ::) ;D

I know the feeling. That is why I don't have any 3D stuff that I consider finished. I end up wanting to do something else before I finish anything. Not just on a whim though, I guess I tend to lose focus. Which is nice when you find the enthusiasm to come back to it later :)

Why do you think I'm STILL working on my console room design after 10 years. I really love this 1/7 scale console. It makes me want to make one of my console design. But the work being done here is built of pure awesome. keep going and more updates!! :)

Thank You Rob - and may I say I have enjoyed your 3D art for many years.

Well, I've decided to back track a little. I hope Jarrod doesn't mind But I developed a new template based on some of his photos.(again) I feel that I haven't had much luck with the old template so now I need to try something different.

Once before I made a template from Jarrod's Images for cutting the under panels of the Console and that worked out pretty well.

example:

I did do some math with the help of Crispin, Marc, and Crispin's Console Calculator - but sometimes a good photo will help out a lot.

I just noticed that the subtitle for the thread states "Builders proof".

I thought you were building the previous model? (This is a tied favourite for me with the Hartnell, though I do love all the classic ones :))

who says I can only have just 1 =P

truth be told - I have had some trouble settling for just one console. I have been collecting all sorts of things universities have been throwing out for many years - Much of which would make excellent Tardis parts. In addition I go to garage sales and but things on ebay. I have gathered quite a lot of junk. I guess I love all the consoles. - Yes I want a season 19 Console but I still have parts for at least 4 other consoles. I have loads of ping pong balls (Drs 1-3) and tuns of plastics (several consoles), and 400 scrabble tiles (Jarrod's console), etc. Recently I was given 3 old style Mac Computers and suddenly a Five Doctors Console was possible. .... I'm really digging the Matt Smith Console so I guess I'll have to build one of those one day as well. I guess I should post pictures of some of my junk....

Who am I to deny someone who shares my dream? ;)

I only hope you have the space for all this awesomeness :D
