Just dug this out while looking for something else on my data drive.

So here I present to you something rather cool that I was given some years ago :)
Season_15.jpg

I had to reduce the quality to make it under 500k, but hopefully that won't knacker it too much :)

EDIT: It's now my original scan. :)

I just PM'd you for the larger image - this is fantastic!!!!!!
why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.

My "original" copy is only A3 (a reduction from A0), so it won't get much better than this unless someone manages to get hold of the thing it was originally copied from.

I'm so grateful for this image - I was just trying to figure out the measurements of the walls when I saw this. So its agreed, my first son will be named rassilonsrod - he may hate me until he discovers girls......

Well, it after all, it IS the parents' responsibility to embarrass their kids as much as possible until such times as they learn not to be embarrassed :D

This is some fabulous detail! I find it interesting that in the lower right corner where it shows the "section through translucent colourless f/glass discs" (presumably the new roundels: f/glass meaning fibreglass) it says under the diagram "To match profile of existing discs (This is not true profile)".

Makes one wonder why they didn't just draw the profile of the "existing discs", and where they took the "not true" profile they did draw from.

I think it was probably just to save time. From some of the stuff I have seen, they went into great detail where necessary and where something was a rehash, they trimmed down the detail. For example, I wouldn't mind betting that there would have been a page dedicated to just one roundel wall.

But you put it on here and you get just the overall dimensions X and Y, it doesn't always give full dimensions (in this case, they have given a cross section in the x dimension - but you get my point ;))

You'll notice, for example, that the top part of the wall with no decoration on it at all does not seem to have any listed height. For our purposes, however, it can probably be extrapolated using the roundel size and gap between them.

OK, chaps and chappettes! I have edited the original post and the file hosted here is my original scan.

Remember, the piece of paper I have is an A3, not the original A0 - so it has already been reduced in size before I got hold of it, therefore this is the best we're going to get for now.

I don't doubt the trimming down of the detail to save time. But since they had to draw this print for the new set, I'm wondering why they took the time to draw a roundel ("translucent colourless f/glass disc") profile that was so elaborate, yet not the "profile of existing disc" they wanted to use.

You would think they would have drawn the proper profile since they drew that cross section enlargement. (If they wanted to save time with that drawing they could have just drawn a squiggle profile line of the disc for scale rather than that fancy one, which, from the look of it, had to have taken some time, especially since at this timeframe it was all drawn by hand.)

I think that as they just had a mould and pulled them out of that and that it wasn't a new design anymore that it just wasn't necessary to go and dig out the previous plan to copy it.

I do agree that it would have been nice for us, though, since this is the only plan we have from that era :)

I suspect there were more sheets relating to this set, (console refurb, perhaps?) so who knows. Perhaps there is (or was) more detail out there on another page.

Here's a brightened and slightly enhanced version of the image:

It may be easier to see some of the small text with more contrast.

Wow! That really did bring out some detail (and it's easier on the eyes to read things). And interestingly enough, I'm wondering what the roundels would have looked like if they had made them with that detail. I'll bet they would have fancied up the console room a bit.

At least now we know for sure that one panel with twelve evenly spaced rounds was carried over from the season 14 set. It says existing, paint white. :)
