September 12'th and 13th Marked the first day that my friend John actually cut the first wood for my Tardis.   We are using his shop as he as many of the advanced saw tools necessary for a realistic build based on screen caps and helpful images and advice from this board.

The first day, Saturday, we cut the floor for the base, and some of the outer frame pieces.

I have decided to go with Glen's build book version (pre 2005). I did, however, like the whole 05 and newer Tardis color... It just looks more ominous and just spooky. With that in mind, I tried to find a way to get a color very similar to that here in the States. I went to Lowes and found colors that were varying shades of WAY wrong. I remembered from seeing a pic on the board recently of a scene from the episode "Shakespeare Code". The pic was of the Tardis being hit with an arrow. The Tardis was in sunlight. After making my own capture, I zoomed in on a section of the door and enlarged it to computer paper size and printed it with a photoprinter. I took that in to Lowes and they were able to color match almost exactly to my sample. They dabbed a bit onto my picture and I didn't even notice they had done it till I picked up the picture and saw the circular dab when light was shining through the back side of the paper. It was THAT close. If anyone is interested, I will be happy to share the Lowes "custom color code" so you can have some gallons made up for your build. I don't know if it is permissible for me to post it here, but I will be happy to share it with you in a PM message.

Thanks to Crispin for getting back to me in another thread letting me know this is OK.
The code is as follows: 102-10.5   107-4   113-10   115-11
the base color was a satin (however, if you buy a quart or gallon they will sell it in flat) and the base's code was "base 4 94101" ..   Also, they told of a product for antiquing the finish with that fancy black smoky tinge that the blue has in with it, on the TV prop,  called "asphaltum".  It is a very thin paint that you apply with a brush or sponge and just dab with a paper towl or Kleenex off.    It works itself into the wood cracks and gives that black aged darkening as tho soot had darkened the paint.  Please show your sales person a closeup pic of the paint on the Tardis TV prop if you want that effect and see ... they may just have a different and handier way to either apply or dab it ....   
I hope that someone gets some benefit and fun out of this info.
