Hi all,

Another box I see no reference to on this site is the replica at Wetherby. Now Scarfwearer has shown me how to use Flickr with this site here's my picture of it taken on a lovely morning in November 2008.

It seems slightly more authentic than a slavish following of the blueprints. I wonder what other referance they had?

That looks nicer - nice to see a police box restored to it's phoney former glory......

A Once Upon A ...(please complete, I can't remember their name) Box, sitting outside Wetherby Police Station.  A shell with a light inside - and the extra white panel on the door is information about Police Boxes.

Piccies taken by me (and a friend!)

Once Upon A Way Trading LTD is the name I think you're looking for Dale.  I saw TPE's recast of this a couple of weeks ago and I was shocked by the quality...

Not only were the seam lines as visable as those on a space pig's trotter, but the casting was so thin that I could flex it with one finger.  The window frames were just stuck on from the outside and it was so light that I could drag it across the floor.

Yes I used to work for these people and no there is no sour grapes here, but if anyone is thinking of buying one, I'd advise against it - they just aren't worth it.  I suggest people considering such a purchase should go and see one first before placing their order - just so you don't get any suprises when it arrives!

I was running desperately short on fuel on a work trip from Newcastle and stopped at Weatherby on the premise that there must be a petrol station. I found one then got lost trying to rejoin the M1, but did drive past this box.

I couldn't believe my eyes so gave up the M1 and went back for a quick look! ;D

That was about 6 months ago but more recently I returned in order to measure it. I was disapointed when I realised it was a replica  :'(

That said, the telephone panel and fresnel lamp are quite authentic looking (although somebody decided the lamp needed to be blue!)

I do have piccy's but can't figure out how to add them, please help.

A fake it may be, but I certainly wouldn't say no to it sitting at the bottom of my garden. ;)

This box has fooled a few experts. Some pictures of this box have recently been posted on The TARDIS Builder's website.  It's not real box but a full size 'imitation' of one as made by "Once Upon A Time" (Or similar)

Also there's one at Hendon as mentioned in another thread..

Speaking as a TPE Movie box owner, it's clear to me now  from these new pictures that TPE used the exact same moulds to make their 'Movie Tardis'. The dimensions are identical. To compare...

TPE swear blind that their movie TARDIS is not a copy of the Once Upon A Way Trading model, however, when I said that they look identical and even share the same mistakes, the owner did concede that just maybe, a OUAWT box could have been used to cast from without his knowledge.

That's quite amusing. Too bad though that TPE didn't also copy some of the OUAW details which aren't at all bad - like the signs and the fresnel - despite the wacky blue colour. I got a grey length of pipe as my lens!

Brighton Pier got the same for their TARDIS... and the whole thing's VERY badly cobbled togather - even to the extent of using gate hings for the outwards opening doors - can't open inwards 'cos' of the wheel housings....

This box fooled me too....

...Until you get close and the flimsy construction and omissions jump out at you!

That said I do like this type of replica.
