That box is gorgeous.

Somehow you've managed to invoke a marvellous feeling of the past.  I can almost believe we're looking at old photos of a long-vanished Police Box somewhere in a leafy suburban lane in Greater London...

Mark

Really is a very nice build.

Reminds me of a picture of the Barnet box with the telegraph post behind it.

Out of interest, what watt bulb lights your box because it looks very bright or is it something to do with exposure of the picture?

peted

AMAZING. If you told me this was a real found met, I would believe you. :) The accuracy is astonishing and I love the hopper windows!

fivefingeredstyre

Thanks again guys, I'm glad you all like it. Its been built now for about 4 months, and I have to say I still smile when I look at the window at it... :)

Mark, the lamp is an 11w job, which is supposed to be the equivalent of a 40w tungsten filament lamp. It looks bright, mainly because of the extended exposure for the night time shots. Whilst i've gotten some good effects on the night shots, I do think its too bright.

The inner lamp is around 7w (which should be the equivalent to the old style 35w), and if anything it should be something like that on top as well...

The thing its difficult to make a guess as to the right size lamp to put in, as the technology changes all the time.

DoctorWho8

Would you like a cup of tea or hot cocoa with your frosty Met Box? ;)  I forward your new pics to old friend PurpleB, and he said they were stunning.  I agree also. :)

Thanks mate, that's kind of the look I was going for :)

I appreciate that there's only so many ways to photograph some thing that is pretty much identical from each side, but I had one more play this evening as it looked so good in the snowy dusk...

This is superb I hope it weathered the winter ok cos its got another one coming.
so let me get this straight,A thing that looks like a Police box standing in a junkyard,It can move anywhere in Time and space ?

fivefingeredstyre

HOw Do!

Thanks... Its did more or less... I've had to go back to the weatherproofing a bit over the summer, as my original attempts were terrible (see http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=2793.15 from May 2012 onwards...)

Its holding up quite well, although the only place in getting moisture ingression is through the top signs, so I'm going to have to think about that one over the winter and have another place in the summer...

Building a TARDIS is one thing... Maintaining it is a whole different game... :D
