The following photos were taken of the Matt Smith Sonic Screwdriver prop that was on display at Doctor Who: The Experience.

I see it's been moved since the last pictures I saw of it.

I guess it gets dusty and has to be cleaned...... .or maybe someone is running around after hours Sonicing Daleks?

Odd that you think it has moved, when I've seen it it always looked like it was in that position...

I wonder, does anyone know if this is the actual prop, or just a replica? It certainly looks in bad enough condition to be a prop, take the button hatch at the bottom for instance, the hinge is missging.

Thanks for the pictures, I tried to take some on my camera when I went, but the flash caused havoc on the glass case. I love the shot with all the older sonics in the background.

Definitely moved...

I personally believe it's one of the production used props, the details that say this to me are the marbling effect on the emitter, and the Tactile switch.

You might be able to see other bits that confirm it to be a production-used prop should you compare it to the photos posted by the man who made them:

Robatto certainly is a genius, I love his work.

If it is a real prop, I have an idea of which one it could be.
Remember in "Time of Angels" when The Doctor uses the screwdriver to give River's communicator a boost? Remember that Smith holds it oddly, with his thumb on the red button on the end?
It's a little known fact that this was because the prop had, in effect, fallen apart, and Smith had to actually hold the sections together and use the red button at the end because the primary activator switch stopped working. Indeed, some of the very first filmming pics to surface are of Matt talking to the prop guy as he re-assembles the whole thing, but thisprop was always nutoriously fragile and had to pretty much have a full-time minder from the prop departement.
If it it a real prop, I reckon it would be this one, it would be the first the Beeb would want to replace, and the amount of damage to it would certainly indicate it has been through the wears.

I think it was originally CT that told me about this, but I'm not sure about that.

Sadly no to all of the above, the Sonic was behind glass in a display case so no chance of precise measurements.

Alright then, I'll just use the pictures given above to do the measurements.

I'll be sure to share what I've come up with.
