Here are some shots of the Cushing Console Room from "...and the Daleks"

I've taken some screen-caps of both the movies, concentrating only on the Tardis prop.  They're a bit too big for the forum so I've put them at the following location.  Click on the thumbnails to access the larger image:

Feel free to browse and download, though I would ask that you please avoid doing so between the hours of 15:00 and 23:00 GMT, as that is my ISP's peak period.  It shouldn't make that much difference, since this forum membership is quite small and there's only about 6MB of JPGS, but you never know.

There's less pictures of Tardis in the first film, but more closeups.

One thing I've spotted is that the windows appear to be slightly wider than the door panels.  This is noticeable on the close-up shot of Roy entering Tardis, and seems to be replicated on the outside shots.  

About those door shots from inside.  At first glance I thought they could be used to give a good estimate of the ratio between the panels and the door, then allowing us to estimate the rest of the dimensions.  However since these doors aren't part of the same set as the "outside shell" there's really no guarantee they were built to the same dimensions!  

If it's true that the prop was eventually re-used and destroyed in an episode of "The New Avengers" then I guess I should get some screen-caps from that.

I'd fortunately forgotten just how much of a mess the Cushing movie TARDIS interior was.

A control column with yoke is no alternative to the 6-sided console with roter.

Since Tardis is only used as a magic wardrobe to get our heroes to and from the main plot, there are very few decent shots with it in.  There's one long shot I haven't included, but it shows a normal stacked roof and some kind of lamp that appears to be no different to the prop in the second Dalek movie.

3. A nice close-up of those door panels.  Note the window panel appears slightly wider:



4. Doctor Who says goodbye to the Thals. Looks like a gloss or satin finish on the box there, because you can see the reflection of the open door's window on the corner post:



5. The door is closing, but this shot has captured it almost face-on to the camera, giving about the best reference of the panels we could get.  And that window does look wider than the panel below doesn't it?

from what little ive seen of the movies the logistics of this tardis always eluded me. they show the white empty interior through the windows (dont even try to hide it) but then the interior is BOOM right there inside the doors

I think the control yoke was just used as the Mat/Demat control because when Ian accidentally triggered it and the TARDIS dematerialized, 'Doctor Who' carried on about Ian sending them off with having any destination programed in, so they could end up anywhere in any time. So I'm guessing that somewhere in all of that other "stuff" is where the coordinates were set.

But I do agree with you that a tangle of wires and a bunch of cabinets is no substitute for a single console, six-sided or otherwise (thinking of Professor Kronotis' "console" in his TARDIS from "Shada").

And the Cushing TARDIS was neatened up considerably for the next movie "Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150 AD", and the interior of the doors was painted white (presumable to match what could be seen of he interior from the outside as seen in the next-to-last photo above). See the thread (http://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=1942.msg30833;topicseen#msg30833) showing the cleaned up Cushing interior. The control yoke is still present, and you can see it in several of the reference images.

I've always loved this control room, but it would benefit from the Doctor tidying up those wires as it looks like the area behind my TV. It's kind of be careful where you walk, and whatever you do don't touch that huge steel control column......yes, the one that's painted bright red!

I never realised just how clean the exterior was on the movie Tardis. Just look how lovely and white those window frames are.
