I've just knocked up a window frame but seeing as timber is quite bizarredly odd sizes, I had to choose 9mm square as my source material. This was also required because I have a 10mm edge on my panel edges and any thicker would make the frames stand proud of the bevelling. So, I have taken a photo hoping to hear that it looks right! I could make them wider than their depth but is there any need? There doesn't seem to be many close up shots of the window frames around nor dimensions available to go by, so this was made on-the-fly.

Looking pretty good in that pic, certainly appropriate proportions for an NST model.  Generally I'd think that the frames would be wider than they are deep on most windows (strips on mine are about 2cm wide and roughly 6mm deep)

Yep, you're both right, it is indeed a NST. Or it that AN NST. Anyway, now I have some positive feedback I'll make the frames out of that timber. I have my acrylic windows but couldn't find anything either pebbled or opaque, so I might have a go at sandblasting one side at my work and seeing how that looks. Thanks guys! ;-)
