Hello all I'm back after a long time away.  I have finally found enough time in my busy life to build a Control console for my 5 year old son (A huge Doctor Who fan).  I'm not sure which version I'm going to make, or if I am going to do an original.  My Father said he would work out the sound effects for each of the switches, so that is one less thing I have to think about.  Wish me luck, and feel free to give any input.

Children are wonderful, they take everything on trust and are just in awe of even simple things done lovingly for them.

You can see reflected in their eyes the magic of something like this - I think that for a child the magic is, that you can have an idea and make it become something real. That's a fresh revelation still. And it IS kind of miraculous when you think about it!

In the words of Peter Gabriel's song 'Mercy Street', on album 'So':
"All of the buildings and all of the cars/Were once just a dream in somebody's head".

You will be SO rewarded in doing this... go with the child in you!

I have a seven-year-old nephew myself, who is an avid Doctor Who fan. He just got a sonic screwdriver for his birthday (like mine) from my Dad. I am looking forward to his visit soon, and feel a fresh urge to resume my own (sporadically-in-progress) console build now.

Brilliant, that sounds like a project and a half - and good on your dad for helping out, he could probably hire himself out to a few people on here as well with skills like that.   ;)

Looking forward to hearing more aboubt it.
