That's really cool!  Thanks for sharing.

That'd make an excellent pull out cabinet in a wall or something.  Clothes or booze though?

celation

Incredible! Where did this come from? I'm amazed this stuff still exists!

Organic Mechanic

Wow, those are great! I can't believe they still exist...
Wait, WTH? The show itself was disposable, but let's preserve the blueprints for the set pieces for posterity?

:shakes head in bemusement:

That's fantastic! Do you have any other plans we haven't seen? More, more, I say!

The Other

That's a cool find. I like how on one of the plans(second to bottom) of the sidrat it says rough sketch even though the drawing is of very good quality. :D

The SIDRAT looks very similar in appearance to one of the "natural" TARDISes (with its chameleon circuit switched off) near the end of "The War Games". How much outwardly different were they really?

This is just curiosity asking here.

It's the same as the hero SIDRAT in War Games.  The row of them at the end, those were somewhat simplified background versions.

This is fantastic, thanks for putting this up ,when i built the t55 i had to just guess ,the door opening mechanism was the hardest thing to do,but this has revealed all !!!
so let me get this straight,A thing that looks like a Police box standing in a junkyard,It can move anywhere in Time and space ?

Great stuff, thanks for these! :)

I've actually had this drawing for quite a while and i only thought yesterday that there was nothing about the SIDRAT on here, this plan actually came off the UK 'The War Games' DVD.

The BBC are always putting production drawings in the odd DVD so I do have some more but nothing to do with TARDIS unfortunately just the sets they had built.

Ive managed to take some screenshoots of that sequence your talking about and they are slightly different,

They must have used this design as the base and just adjusted certain points to make them different.  :)

Teletran

Those are static mockups of the working prop, they aren't meant to look any different to the main Sidrat prop but their simpler construction shows up when you put them next to each other. At the end of the story they actually swap the props around so that the Time Lord's capsule is played by the hero prop and the bad guy's Sidrat  has turned into a wooden mock-up.

It looks like they only had three all up, the hero prop and two stand-ins, and used a mirror to extend the set.

Haha, there's a mirror at the end... Just spotted that - Seems they only made two "TARDISes" and one SIDRAT.

Ooops, I guess we posted at the same time :)

So it looks like the main difference is that a SIDRAT has those "Ford Tractor Grey" lines alongside its door and over its top (and probable all around it), whereas the TARDIS has no lines on it at all. Is that it? If so, these plans can be easily modified for a plain TARDIS by leaving out those lines.

But those are the "go-faster" stripes!  Gotta leave them on. :)
