The main scanner screen on the wall has shown Doctor Who episodes sometimes when I'm able to get hold of a projector. I really must do something more permanent about that. Watching an episode that way is rather surreal, especially if they're period episodes. :)

The screens on the console are all attached to a computer and run some custom software I built for the purpose - there's a TARDIS simulator embedded in there that runs the lights, switches, sounds and displays. There's more info about that on my website and also in the build diary: [ref topic=27]Scarfwearer's console[/ref].

The way prices are coming down on some models these days, how about a nice flat screen LCD TV for that wall monitor? It may be slightly more rectangular than the real thing, but I'm sure there are some out there that would fit the mould, so to speak.

im so impressed how you did you did it   but i didnt think it wouldve taken that long but anything worth while is worth the wait so thats why im so impress with the room and how you did it to
thats why i to am jealous hehehe

have to say scarfwearer this console room of yours is stunning.  I am soooooo jealous lol.

not sure what is on the other side of that wall but if you could cut out a window to it and use a sheet stretched tight you could hang a video projector on the ceiling over there hitting the back side of the screen.

one nice thing about it is your remote control will work the projector as the "eye" on the projector will see the IR on the screen even through the screen the same way you see the image through the screen. This might also add some much needed venting for the heat from the lighting.
Sincerely, and most appreciatively,
The Architect.

I'd thought about that, but it's too near the corner of the room, so it ends up being a very short throw. I've hung a projector in the room itself in the past, but the one I used had to be rather too close on that side.
At some point I'll find a long throw projector.

Hey, what about the timecolumn motorization you keep putting off?

Oh, and if the prices come down enough, maybe you could even use a LED TV for the scanner (in a few years....)
Or a pocket projector.  Preferably one with 1024x768 or even 800x600.
You could even design some clever excuse for it too!
(oh, that's my randomness detector! It beeps when something random happens in the tardis (it beeps)). LOL.

Scroll up a few posts. I suggested the same because of the way LCD TV prices are coming down. (Great minds sort of think alike, but why wait a few years for LED TV prices to drop when you could get a decent LCD TV for a good price today?)

Because the LED variety is thinner, lighter, and looks alot better (still looks bad from within 1-6 feet though).

Crispin , you are so talented in building that magnificent console room, surely a little thing like making the column rise and fall would be no problem to a man of your ingenuity  :)
so let me get this straight,A thing that looks like a Police box standing in a junkyard,It can move anywhere in Time and space ?

Can the time rotor rise and fall?

Alas not at the moment - fixing that has been on my todo list for some years now... It did for a while, but didn't work very well.

Talk about authenticity. This sounds just like the original TARDIS console prop's column. They had so many problems getting it to work that they said, at times, they had to resort to hiding a stage hand under the console, and having him lift and lower the column when the TARDIS was in flight.

Don't think I'd ever be able to build anything on a par with this. Oh, RABBITS!!!

Well, I could, but then you'd only be able to see the walls, not the console...

Isn't that what kids are for?  If they're small enough to fit inside, that is... :)

Seriously, I am in awe of what you've done here, Crispin.  It's seriously beyond any other project I've seen.  Truly 'out of this world', mate!
