I have to say growing up with the 5th - 7th doctors, the TYJ is the model that is ingrained when i think of Tardis.. i have a soft spot for the bright blue colour scheme :)

actually looking at stills from the mark of the rani.. (cause i dont have many pre 2005 series dvds) the previous colour scheme i had on it allthough close to the new tennant tardis looks very simular to that one too. just as was pointed out the sign boxes were projecting to far... so i might copy the object and recolour to match that colour scheme too

added the pics i found as reference :)

I wonder why the box looks so much more damaged in the 2nd shot than the first?

And also the framing on the front of the sign box looks way to thick to my eyes... Weird how you get a certain view in your head when you think back and how its often different to looking at the photos...
In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,
Public Enema Number One.

yeah im assuming its some sort of publicity shot, but for what and when i have no idea lol.. my memory doesnt go back that far, only remember bits and pieces from the 6th doctor my fav was always the 5th :)

i dont ever recall the tardis being sooo beat up.. hehe

Kingpin

Looks more like something's splattered all across the "front" of the prop, although I first thought it was damage, and then noticed the surroundings.

Yeah, I see what you mean... But look at the pillar that the left door is attached to.

Looks like you can see bare wood. Which is particularly wierd, cos this box was made of fibreglass...

yes that second pic is from colins press photo shoot from when he was announced as the doctor

an am pretty sure that the odd looking thick front sign box was because it was over clad with hardboard due to being damaged the previous season an was at one stage replaced by a newberry sign box up until time flight then the hardboard clad repaired sign box was put back on with the thick frame an the reason it wasn,t oftain noticed is that the favoured the back of the box with the right hand opening door for most of davisons last season if that makes sense ?

as for the look of wood where the paint is gone the mind bogglesd think we would need purples expert brain for that one lol

although i am guessing alot of it could be mud from location filming on " the caves of androzani " as am sure the publicity pics for colin were taken not long afterwards as " the twin dilema was filmed in the same block

anyway hope it helps somewhat

oh an p.s the tyj was repainted between the end of "the twin dilema" and the start of the new season opener " the attack of the cybermen "
I didn't invent the hypothetical situation, but let's just suppose for a second that I did........

sanguinewolf

it looks like its been left in the garage and used to store paint after redecorating the house hehe

i love the stepladder to the back right just behind colins head lol

That second shot is actually from the location filming of The Twin Dilemma from part 1 or 2. My guess is the panels got dirty when laid out on the ground.

And re. the comment about the box being repainted between season 21 and 22 (or between The Twin Dilemma and Attack of the Cybermen. storywise).

Due to the strikes around that time both Androzani and Twin Dilemma were affected in their shooting schedule. With Dilemma they did the filming between studio sessions (two different quarries for Titan three in parts 1 & 2 and Jaconda in part 3). The prop was only needed in studio for parts 3 & 4.

Looking at these shots from the DVD (excuse the pixellation), the prop seems to have been repainted between the Jaconda quarry filming and the second studio.

Dirrrrrty TARDIS!

I also grew up with this as my era of TARDIS. You have to have a soft spot for your first...

mobius

have I just not found it yet, or is there no thread of the Tardis's other shapes, specifically from this period, when the Chameleon circuit was repaired briefly. I have some pics of its 3 other forms, happy to post them here if that's ok, tho I think perhaps their own thread is called for? someone might want to build them!
It's always a matter of time...

warmcanofcoke

why doesn't the Guide mention them? - Oh, it's not very accurate.
Oh? - I'm researching the new edition.
