Hi Tardis Folk!
Im new and this is my first post.... GULP...
I'm going to compile sound effects and make a CD.
I need help sourcing the sound effects as they must be around and available somewhere - without having to trawl through endless DVD's and clean them up and edit them.
I have made a start.
so far I have the Tardis materializing cross faded into The Interior Stationary, I have the door sound too, but thats it...
where can I get sounds like
1. the Tardis in flight, 2. Cloister bell, 3. co-ordinates & console controls used in the Peter Davison era, 4 scanner opening, 5 The zero room door and 6. Tardis arrival dong ( time rotor halt)...?
any clues - anyone got them?
I will gladly share my findings. Please help if you can or have any idea's...
I have the technology & know-how, to make a great CD of Tardis sound (for private enjoyment only).

Could I just ask which era Tardis you are looking for? I have the radiophonic workshop cd for most of the series up to davisdon era including lots of internal noises. If youre after the new series, I'm afraid I cant help there tho

I think I've got the cloister bell, the scanner, and the "ping!" from when the Ship lands.  I shall get them to you asap.

I have so far successfully looped a sound bite from Castrovalva - just before the DR is discovering the cricket bat etc - for the inflight noise its a bit dirty, but useable, until I find something else.

I can't find hover mode anywhere on the DVD's that I can use but will keep searching (castrovalva seems to be the only option!)

there was an LP of Dr Who sound effects released, ooh - back in the late 70s I think. On that there were quite a few Tardis sounds, doors opening, interior in flight and stationary, scanner screen opening...etc . If you keep a look out on ebay it might pop up on there, I had the cassette version but where that is now, goodness knows.

WELL YOU SHOULD LOOK AFTER THESE THINGS!

I think I had one once and threw it away when I was a teenager... hateful moments of abandonment.
I will take your advice and look on ebay.
I called shops - EVEN the museum and they don't stock any old stuff like that anymore - and they said I would be lucky to find anything as nobody's interested in the OLD series its all the new series....
I couldn't dis-agree more.
I've only seen a handfull of episodes of the new series as It doesn't interest me one bit!  its good but just doesn't grab me by the balls like the old style did. DOES!

Oh well, at least if I get all the sounds and complete a collection and make a good CD we can share that among ourselves.
mind you editing long periods of these droning sounds has sent me half way round the bend.
Its hypnotic and mind numbing at the same time...

Ahh, got to this thread alittle late, I've got the sound effects requested, I'll slap them up somewhere for people to grab.

Um, whats the mods views on the distribution of such things?

There are some sounds available on the DVD releases.

If you are like me (Sad enough) and like to look at the production pictures from the series they on occasion have souond effects and the like on them.  Tardis interior, in flight ect. I did up until recently have the ability to record these sound, but my PC went KAPUT about three weeks ago and have yet to get a sound card that will work for my regenerated PC

There's a stationary Tardis interior sound effect playing over the photos on Destiny of the Daleks dvd. 

I play a game called Second Life .   The game is a worldwide multi special interest fantasy environment where you can buy property and have a complete "second life" if you need an escape from your first one-- like being a flying superhero or just whatever.  Well, in that game I have a Tardis that I live in.  A friend helped build it for me (in game) .... cool part was, he threw in all the sound effects too.. the thrum of the control room is there... the screen opening sounds real... the doors opening and closing sounds real... cloister bell...etc... .  I was thinking of hooking a recorder up, recording the sounds from a gaming session, and then using that to source the sounds for my own evil (well, maybe not so evil) purposes.   However, I would love to get a copy of the sounds your have been mentioning!  In return, I will see if I can find a way to hook a recorder up so I can get some clean recording on this end and share that as well as the sounds in the game are clean, clear, and ULTIMATELY recognizable from 12 blocks away.
