I have another australian mate, he tells me his fingers stick to the keyboard...

I gather its a bit like the lakes here in summer. They just don't cool down, and that goes for your houses, only more so... You'd think that aircon would be cheaper with the ammount of people who need it!

In the cities in the streets there's a tension you can feel,
The breaking strain is fast approaching, guns and riots.
Politicians gamble and lie to save their skins,
And the press get fed the scapegoats,

Actually Marc, Mrs Pod told me she heard the govt was going to charge aircon users a premium of $75 per day during this historic heatwave just to make a bit of revenue. Don't ya just love the government?

Hi all SNOW UPDATE

Guys, guys, have a heart, we're freezing here lol ;D
$75 premium to use aircon? Sounds like the British government to me, or the American, or...well you know what I mean.
Anyway, the freeze continues.
Old jokes are the best? so here goes.
What did the dance Teacher say, when she looked out of the window?

Well it is snowing outside

Edit; Added a couple of night time pics (Not easy)

I just noticed that the half wall with the phone panel is hinged. Is this a door alla the tardis? If so did you modify the doorframe design?

Yep, double outward opening doors. The only other time I've seen this, is the Peter Cushing films, which unsurprisingly, is my favourite prop.

Anyway, an update;

FIRST I AM DEAF AFTER WATCHING THIS< LEFT MY SOUND UP AND IT WAS VERY LOUD>>>>>>>

Ok Where did you get this? How did you do it? Please tell

DoctorWho8

Such lovely fluidity.  Seems to be timed just about right to the TARDIS noises.

Yes please share where did you get the flasher circuit from that is brilliant and very fluid, much better then the simple button flasher that I have in mine.  Share KB Share :)

Hi everyone
Yep, I thought you'd all like it and want more info. The best I can do at the moment is this:

Flasher circuit.JPG

The unit was built a very good friend of mine, who is very well known on the Dalek forums due to him and his wife, having built a superb, full sized NS Dalek in bronze and gold. It is fully RC. The only one of it's kind I know.

Now before you all say "Will he build me one?" I can say, that won't happen. He is far too busy for one thing and he won't be able to take orders. What he might do however, as I have encouraged him, is to make up a schematic/diagram for me to post here. I will see him on 18th September at a Dalek event and tell him of the brilliant feedback, his little unit has received. That's the best I can do.

that is brilliant and thanks for putting the bug in his ear for us KB,  look forward to seeing if the diagram would be a possibility.

DAMN DAMN DAMN I knew it would be something like this!!  I was hoping you bought something. Oh well  and of course he would be too busy to make more.......

See!! I can build props, any shape any size, but I look at that little board of electronics and it makes no more sense to me than a purple rice crispie!!
electronic circuit builders are just using dark magical powers I swear!!!

From the looks of it, I can tell you that it's probably a micro-controller based circuit.  It will take more than electronics know-how to replicate this, as there will be micro-controller code that goes along with it.

KB, do you think he would give up the code as well?

If you guys are interested in a TARDIS Lamp flasher circuit, I'd recommend looking at Jason's as seen here:

http://www.asciimation.co.nz/tardis/tardis_light_flasher.jpg
(from http://www.asciimation.co.nz/tardis/index.html)

Jason built and sent me one as thanks for helping him with his build and it works perfectly-  connect to 12volt battery and away she goes. Adjustable flashing rate so you can make the beat of your choice.  Not connected up to sound in any way but I'm sure the clever types could figure something out.

Cheers, Glen

Now that's more my speed! I'm still a big fan of that "old school" 'tronics: a versatile, nearly bullet-proof chip like a 555 timer for the flasher. And if you want  something brighter for your bulb, a 3055-type power transister on this circuit's output will easily power a 55 Watt halogen bulb, which would give the build and fade effect. Any '555 Timer Cook Book' will have several simple and easy variations of this sort of circuit, and most are adjustable in brightness and flash interval with simple variable resistors.

Micro-controller based sircuits, with plug-ins for programmable code needed for the flashers? (Scotty - "Star Trek III": "The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.")
