Hi All. I am doing a 3D render/animation of the 5 Doctors console to be used on an upcoming Classic Doctor Who DVD release for the BBC. I need the definitive answer to the following questions.

- How many sides are there to the layers in the 5 Doctors style time column. I've read 7, 8,10 and 11 on this site. I have to do an overhead shot looking down and personally this HAS to be right. Otherwise people like you will point and say 'Thats not right!!' :)

- What are the positions for the pegs that separate the X sided layers

-And Finally, I know the  arrangement on the white and red lights, but what levels are they at,  Ideally I'd like to know what that whole inside is made..

But I do need this info ASAP as I'm past my deadline for the animation . But they can wait because it has to be perfect!!   ;D

As thank you for this information. I give you the following
http://www.who3d.co.uk/2005TARDIS_images.zip

I had my friend at the BBC take these for me. They are very high res photos of the console from the new series. Should help those here wanting to make one.

G'day!

Not sure if this would help, but after many hours of research, I discovered that the layers were 8 point stars, and that is what I based my build on.  hope the following helps you out!

Got some info for you Rob, but photobucket isn't working at the moment. I was going to email you but hotmail isn't uploading properly cos my internet is slow today...

I'll try a bit later :)

Thanks Marc, you could always send them to me at who3d. But if your upload speed is slow don't worry about it

here you go, all running well today. :)

not majorly huge resolution, but should be of some use :)

If I did my research properly: The inner rods are staggered at alternating positions and the outer ones just move in, in relation to the points. It starts with 4 rods at the bottom and at the top the first few layers are the same.

PS... its interesting, I've never known maya to put so much antialiasing into its renders when saving as a JPG. Maybe I've just been using BMP, PNG and TIF previously? hmmm...

I have used 8. I initially did 11, but I realised it was 11 layers. I'm pretty sure that the number 8 was confirmed by Mr Purp.
