Hey Chaps i wondered if anyone out there could give me some help with the font and Letter Sizes and methods of creating the "Police public Call Box" Signs above the doors, i have had the boxes themselves made in the measurements of 93mm x 917mm, but i really need advice and/or details in doing the signs themselves, PDFs or anything will be greatfully accepted. Thank-You all.

Hi Fellas, Thanks for your input, but i went about getting this font a more unconventional way, my friend Dave the Jedi ( nahh i have never heard of em either ;D ) went about literally re designing the font from photos/ Screen Caps of the Hudolin box, as i said on my post, it was compiled of a couple of different fonts then altered on Illustrator, converted into an ai file, and that was then given to  a sign maker who cut the black out of Black Matt Vinyl then added to "Opal" perspex and then place into the boxes and my heart Sang ( out of tune obviously )

Hi
Not got around to making the signs myself yet but I think there is a thread under the FAQ with regard to the fonts ...and there is a slightly different method for making them described in chriskingbees build diary in the Tardis shell section ...the thread is kingbees build help, page 3...if I remember correctly.

Hope thats some help anyway

I used The TTF Windows font called "Gill Sans (for SAAB)" - search the net for it, its on free font websites - which did the trick quite well - see my recent post Airing Cupboard TARDIS for piccies of my sign.

I just took the font on floppy disc, together with my sizes (30" X 5" sized rectangle with 26" x 3.5" lettering - obviously my sizes are not to original scale as I am converting an airing cupboard, not building a "to scale" TARDIS but still looks great!

The dude at the shop did it there and then on his PC and cutting machine with sticky back Vinyl (search the net for "Metamark T Series" and you will get the idea). £7.50 per sticker! I got transparent perspex to stick it on but really should have got translucent perspex but I have a workaround for my rookie mistake on this ...

Hope this helps...

We took a file found online and resized it on Photoshop Elements to fit our panel then printed it on an inkjet printer in two pieces using vinyl paper available online or in office supply stores.

The completed sign was sealed with laquer and clear caulk around the edges.

Hi Robm,

I've attached something for you that will be useful I think.
I'm still toying with it. But the font is pretty close  :)

Actually, I find the Police Box font looks like a heavily modified version of Fritz Quadrata Bold.  Most of the pictures I have seen show the signs lit and the lettering blurs, which makes it hard to redraw and identify.
